COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Jack IPA is our first ever Imperial IPA. It features a big malty middle to cloak the high alcohol and mouth puckering hop bitterness. Huge tangerine, grapefruit and juicy fruit aroma blossom over the herbal blue basil and malt earthiness of this aggressive beer. Best enjoyed in moderation.

Pours a pale, golden yellow, with small, quickly-dissipating head. Strong hop aroma. Flavor is dominated by the citrus/hop bitterness, with a sturdy underpinning of malt. This is one of the good ones!

Pours a nice golden copper colour with a little white lacing and no head. Aroma of pine and lemon. Like a lot of beers it tastes like it smells. Pine and lemons it’s a real palate wrecker, but it’s pretty good.

Poured from a bomber to a pint glass, I am a big fan of the Firestone products and this did not disappoint. This one was hop filled, dry but in a mouth watering sort of way, and I had a hard time believing it is 9.5% until I caught a nice buzz from just a bomber.

Poured from tap to glass. Golden hue with creamy white head that settled. Aroma is pine, caramel, tangerine, grapefruit. Mouthfeel is great with a medium body and crisp carbonation. Taste is sweet followed by a nice hop bitterness. Overall this is a great ipa.

High ABV, even for a DIPA. It seems dominated by resin hops and the flavor is a bit muddled, with less citrus than I would like. Good but not great... lacking subtlety.

Bottle sampled @ Firestone Walker Tasting. Thank you! BBF 10/04/2015. Golden, creamy white. Nose is yeast, citrus, thick dough, honey. Taste is honey, medicinal, citrus peel, caramel, faint pine, decent yeast body. Prob. too old, too yeasty & not really my thing. Okayish. “Instructions were not clear, got penis stuck in bottle.”

This beer does not taste like it has that much alcohol in it. Great colour and aroma, really enjoying this beer.

GABF 2014. Gold color with a small head. Light piney aroma. Very potent bitterness. Light pine and grain flavor.

Citrus/rind, bitter hop aroma; sweet malt. Similar citrus hop flavor, plus a lot of pepper. Sweet, light caramel malt; not as sweet as the aroma -- I assume because of the strong bitterness? Nice melon-like fruity aftertaste.

Reviewed On: (6/22/14): *Glassware: IPA Tulip *Serving: 22 oz *Aroma: citrus, grapefruit, pine, tangerine, tropical fruits *Appearance: Pale Amber with a four finger head. The head has tons of fizzy big bubbles. The head color is off-white. It slowly receded to two fingers of head. Lots of carbonation streaming up to the head is probably why it stayed the way it did. After consuming the beer, a minor amount of lace was left behind. *Taste: Sweet malt upfront, citrus/grapefruit in the middle, and finishes off w/ a pine taste. *Palate: Medium body, oily mouthfeel, lively carbonation on the tongue. Finishes off very dry and bitter. *Overall: A well balanced and crafted Imperial IPA. It has the maltiness, bitterness, and dryness an Imperial IPA should have. An excellent offering from on of my favorite breweries.
