An Imperial Blonde Ale or Blonde Barley Wine; Helldorado has the lightest color of any of the beers in our barrel program but carries a great deal of interesting barrel character: vanilla, light char and amazing lavender-honey notes. Rich boozy honey liqueur character and loads of smooth sweet toasted malt to finish. The El Dorado hops dance in the background without playing a dominant role in the flavor profile. This beer gets better and better the longer it is in barrel.

Bottle at tasting. Golden color. Great aroma of vanilla, bourbon booze and some caramelised malt. Rich thick taste of lots of bourbon vanilla, cream, ripe fruit, raisin and a long flavorful finish. Fantastic.

Bottle at tasting, shared by O. Cloudy orange pour with slightly off white head. Aroma of orange zest, caramel, marzipan with a sweetish orange taste together with light vanilla, caramel, marzipan and just a hint of booze. Quite special and almost like a belgian strong on steroids.

April 14, 2016 - bottle from Sage, 2015 vintage. Orange pour with limited head. Aroma was sweet caramel, vanilla, wood and some spice. Some fruit came out in the aroma as it warmed. Taste was nicely balanced with the sweetness from caramel, vanilla and toffee, but also has nice amount of wood and mild bitterness.

Shared bottle. Hazy, light orange gold, finger of foamy off-white head. Good retention, plenty of lace. Sweet aroma of lighter malts, brown sugar, toffee. Taste starts sweet as well, toffee, vanilla, smooths out with some oak and light bitter finish. Excellent

Light toffee color. Smells and tastes like candy caramel. Good if you like candy I guess, but I like beer and donnot have an American sweet tooth.

On tap at Freshcraft. Pours a cloudy orange gold with medium off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong vanilla bean, oak, toasted malt. Thick mouth, chewy, vanilla, nice sweetness, honey, hides booze well, really enjoyed this.

Pours translucent apricot with a decent eggshell head. Aroma delivers pear, dusty malt, apple, and subtle woody tones. Flavor features butterscotch, fruity, and subtle malty notes. No wood, though. Mouthfeel is firm, smooth and fizzy. Raise Helldorado!

8 oz draft pour at Tap and Handle. Clear orange appearance with a white head. Boozy and malty aroma with notes of caramel, vanilla, honey, chocolate and toffee. Similar flavor, rich, strong and sweet with a full body. A nice sipper overall.

On Draught at Waldo Pizza
Pours a lightly hazy blonde with a small head that leaves some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is strikingly similar to a Cognac based orange liqueur... Gran Marnier, Ferrand Dry Curaço (most particularly), Cointreau, etc... Certainly some vanilla & sweentess, a rich oak & brandy like character, bright orange peel, some marmalade, a bit of toffee.

The flavor is a lot like the aroma... More distinctly bourbon like as opposed to brandy and orange liqueur. There is some orange flavor, mostly like marmalade. There is a very nice toffee and caramel flavor & the beer is sweet, but the sweetness matches the barrel character very well without ever crossing the line into cloying. It’s got some honey, a little vanilla, some oak & a light spicy bitterness.
Pretty fantastic really.

Light golden amber color with white head, no lacing. Aroma is sweet and slightly boozey. Vanilla, oak, and honey in taste, booze is noticeable and warming but not overpowering. Thick slightly syrupy and smooth body. Very nice drink.
