3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at XVI Celebration, multiple samples.
Appearance: Pours a bright amber gold. White film and edges.
Aroma: Citrusy hop, honey, fruit punch.
Taste: Toasty malt, euro hops, banana esters, vanilla.
Mouthfeel: Astringent, medium bodied, low carb.
Oveerall: A really odd barley wine. Didn’t get much barrel either. Doesn’t make it south often, so glad I could try it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle:   Orangish in color, fairly vibrant, small to moderate frothy white head, little lacing.   Pale breadiness, melon, bourbon, and soft caramel on the nose.   Warming up front, lots of pale breadiness and melon, with a background of caramel.   Blonde Barleywine fits this one fairly well.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Strong pale breadiness and caramel on the finish, with melon and bourbon notes.   The caramel is surprisingly pale, its not like brown sugar like caramel.   More melon and marshmallow like sweetness.   Its on the verge of being cloying, but just short.   Fairly tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Amber pour with a decent white head. Aroma of bourbon mostly, some honey, caramel, and barrel. Taste is big on that Firestone Walker barrel character, vanilla, wood, honey, and a bit of hops. Really sweet. Not my favorite barrel aged offering from Firestone but pretty good overall.

4.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
On tap at Upright Brew House, New York City.
Pours golden with a small, maybe 1 inch head into my snifter. Head disapates quickly leaving a fairly thin lacing in its wake.
Vanilla on the nose dominates. On the tongue as well. The signature Firestone barrel aged flavor comes through. A little hot with the alcohol; almost like sipping a scotch really.
The vanilla becomes more prominent as it warms. Yum yummy!
Firestone is one of my favorite three brewers. They do not disappoint with this work of art called Helldorado. Glad to have found this tap opportunity as now I can leave my one bottle of the stuff to age for a couple years. Can’t wait to see how that comes out.

Overall, a tasty and very interesting barley wine that is pretty unique for the style.
