Aroma: Citrusy hop, honey, fruit punch.
Taste: Toasty malt, euro hops, banana esters, vanilla.
Mouthfeel: Astringent, medium bodied, low carb.
Oveerall: A really odd barley wine. Didn’t get much barrel either. Doesn’t make it south often, so glad I could try it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft on tap at Lions Tiger Beers 2014 (Chicago, IL). Pours a hazy amber orange hue, a bit darker in body with gentle orange glow trailing out to the edges. Frothy offwhite head is a nice filmy layer with decent ring and lacing. Aromas are a bit bready, sweet and gentle honey, caramel elements meet biscuit, dry earthy hops and gentle whiskey and vanillin trails a bit. Initial is medium bodied, a bit lighter with some sticky honey, caramel, gentle bready elements with touches of oak, vanillin. Mellow spirit shows touches of whiskey, earthy dry hops are floral and a faint waft of fruit. Middle is a touch tannic with gentle bready malts. Touches of honey, caramel and bread. A touch dry and barrel driven, earthy hops and a bit of sweetness. Ok, not really my thing but well constructed. Can see the value of it in blends. Pretty sure this is oaked/barreled which the description does not say here.

Draft at Good Dog during a FW event. Hazy amber blonde pour with a slight foamy white head. Heady vanilla caramel. Medium light body with a honey coating at the end. Kumquats. Has some wonderfully bright notes for a Barleywine along with a strong caramel malty backbone.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft at World of Beer - Tempe. Pours hazy mandarin orange. Super boozy aroma of hot bourbon, orange peel, coriander, decadent vanilla, major oak, and a slight hoppiness at the end. Smooth hot bourbon and toffee are the dominant flavors, along with clover honey, sweet lemongrass, and lightly bitter citrusy hops. Lighter body than expected. A nice sweet, blonde barleywine.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Hazy gold with a classic barleywine aroma; deep brown sugar and cherries with a little boozy honey and raisin. The taste is a little boozy but it quickly blends into a smooth but large earthy offer malt tone, a bit of sugary almost-honey sweetness, dates and plantains, brown sugar, and floral hop resin. Very nice and a great sipper.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Freshcraft. Pours a honey gold with some white head. Nose is honey comb, booze, agave, malt, mead. Flavor is very sweet but gobs of honey, booze, earthy, agave. Boozy finish. Almost a braggot there’s so much honey to it.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft at the Livermore Saloon for their second anniversary party. It pours a nice golden color with an off white head. The aroma is super sweet with honey, vanilla, bourbon and wood. The flavor is the same. Super rich on the palate and a bit of a chore to drink, honestly. Huge alcohol presence. Really well done and a great beer for sipping by the fire on a cold night, but I wasn’t in the right frame of mind for this one at the time.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
26 July 2013, tap at Firestone Walker Barrelworks in Buelton, CA. Dark yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is barley wine but it's light. Weird! Med/full body and mildly fizzy. White grapes and fruitcake. Crazy that this is a light barley wine.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bright yellowish/orange tinged pour, white head. Loads of vanilla, freshly emptied oak barrels, some bitterness on the finish. Quite tasty, the hops add lots of flavor with the caramel notes. WINNER.
