Draft at maproom, chicago. Orange blonde pour. Somewhat flat. Sour patch kid aroma, minor funk in nose. Sour flavor, light whiskey and oak. Mainly funky, sour patch kids. Funk sticks to tip of tongue. Like this

On tap (kind of) at Brouwerís Sour Fest 2013. Cloudy yellow pour. Nose is what I would call savory -- almost like really mild beef jerky. Flavor is nice -- mild tartness and slight barnyard funk with a hint of lemon. Itís delicate, for sure -- not a whole lot to this one -- but itís good.

On tap pours a hazy golden color with a thick white head that leaves good lacing. Smell of spices oak and slight pear. Taste is slightly funky and mildly sour with all the same things I mentioned in the smell. Mouthfeel is medium and relatively chewy with decent carbonation. Overall this was a great barrel aged sour/saison. Iím glad I got to try this rare gem.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2013 Draft. Pours with a golden hued body and a small white head. Aromas are dominated by oak vanillin and lactone with light fruit and low phenol, medium grain. Flavors are very oaky and toasted with light fruit, low tannin and a good malt backing for the gravity. Medium to high carbonation, dry finish.

Separately: "Component 3": 3.8 Some tartness, tannic, low funk, citrus.
"Component 2": 3.6 toasted and woody with a low funk.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2013 Updated 4.14.2013 at Barrelworks. Was told this is "totally different" from previous batches. (New rate?) Pours a hazy golden with big white head. Aroma is funky with a cheese and pasture going on with a sour note. Taste is more funky cheese and barnyard, followed by a mild sour and then grain and a hard to pick up fruit bill. The sourness isnít high on this one and the funk really makes up for it. Very much a different beer from what I remember. Old: Stone Sour Fest 2012 - Draft. pours a medium golden. Spice and an odd floral aroma, almost spruce. Very little barrel in the taste with more random spice and floral notes. Very similar to Saison du Buf but in a more spice forward way which seems hard to do.

Very unexpected. I didn't get much of anything from the nose, but boy, is this a unique beer. Light carbonation and almost a subtle white grape sourness to it. Really interesting and different.

Pour on tap at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting 2012, dark orange pour with thin white head, aroma had some veggies, slight corn, hints of white grape, tart pear, peach notes, hints of biscuit, bread, and slight spice in there, something seemed a bit off. Taste was similar, a bit of fruit with peach, pear, hints of oak, slight dms, touch of biscuit and bread, finishing fairly sweet, slightly funky.

Draft at Fobab 10. This was the 5 year-old version, single barrel. Pours a hazy gold with a stiff white head. Nose shows some oxidation, moderate cleansing citrus notes. Some acidity and vanilla. Rich overall and the oak has add a lot to the structure, though kind of washed out some of the brighter notes. Iím guessing with a bit less time on this, it would be stellar. Still, neat beer.

Hazy golden color with white sheen. Big fresh oak aromas with dry spices, peppercorn, dusty pale malt. Nice dry wood, dusty pale malt, dry spice, tannic flavors--good

Had at the 2012 Denver Rare Beer Tasting in Denver, Colorado. Has some sour sunk with a bit of wood. Has a sweet taste with a bit of cinnamon, light body.
