UPDATED: APR 14, 2013 Updated 4.14.2013 at Barrelworks. Was told this is "totally different" from previous batches. (New rate?) Pours a hazy golden with big white head. Aroma is funky with a cheese and pasture going on with a sour note. Taste is more funky cheese and barnyard, followed by a mild sour and then grain and a hard to pick up fruit bill. The sourness isn’t high on this one and the funk really makes up for it. Very much a different beer from what I remember. Old: Stone Sour Fest 2012 - Draft. pours a medium golden. Spice and an odd floral aroma, almost spruce. Very little barrel in the taste with more random spice and floral notes. Very similar to Saison du Buf but in a more spice forward way which seems hard to do.

Draft at BeerMongers, who knows when. From notes. Pours hazy gold, min ring of white head. Aroma full on vinegar (like, straight white - no, maybe cider. Still, something out of my kitchen cupboard). Overwhelms anything else. Maybe some funk / blanket / manure beneath. Taste: lightly toasted cereal finish. Vinegar is light (surprisingly). Lemon, oak tannins, some light fruitiness; lactic. Palate: light body, soft carbonation. Overall: this is interesting - wish the nose and mouth agreed a bit bitter, and there was a bit more carbonation, but nice. 7/4/7.5/3/14.5

Tap at SB. Pours a cloudy medium amber with a loose white head and lots of stringy lace. Bright tangy nose, showing juicy orange notes along with some subtle minerally counterpoints. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Orange pith and peel on the mid palate, along with juicy sweet oranges, minerals, and subtle candied lemon as well. Crisp clean finish. Wonderful beer.

HIGHB4LL (599) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 12, 2014
On tap at World of Beer. Appearance: finger white head, light cloudy, straw color, light lacing. Aroma: floral hops, oak, light funky yeast. Palate: light body, average carbonation, bitter finish. Taste: sweet fruit into tartness with oak and floral dry hop finish. Overall, super unique, complex, but not a truly impressive beer despite this. Slightly watery and somewhat overdone. I enjoy regular Opal more.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2014 bottleshare thanks to Beechner224. At the splash down party. Very sour. Tart. Slightly floral. Ok. (7/4/7/3/15=3.5) Rerate thanks to a bottle from Justin. Nose is amazing citrus and light tartness. Taste is light citrus with a floral note. Not as sour as I initially rated. very enjoyable. The citrus really shines with a bit of zest and pithiness, a light tannin and woody note as well. No chest burning hurt...yet. good stuff!

On tap at Pinthouse Pizza. Yellow pour with a white head. The aroma has some tart lemon and wheat notes. The flavor is very similar. The lemon notes go well with a bit of grass and yeast character. There is also a bit of cherry in the flavor. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
