A nice Belgian light spice to the aroma. The flavor on this one is great. A bit of spice and hops throughout, this one was pretty tasty.

Tap at Sacramento Brewing Company. Hazy golden color with a foamy white head. Definite aromas of sour and fruit. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is mildly Bretty with light stone fruit. Really rather peachy. Finish has a metallic note, but mild funk is the key note. Laced a bit. Very refreshing. Compares more than favorably to Ommegang Bier de Mars. Love saisons.

Reviewed from notes. Pours clean blonde color with a good white head and a ring or two of lacing on the way down. The nose carries some oak and light acidity plus a bit of white wine. Fairly strong sourness comes around along with a bit of funk. The flavor is fairly-funky and brings some white-wine acidity as well as a bit of lemon. Oak comes in as well. Mouthfeel is really nice with the acidity pairing well with a bit of a tannic presence. Really tasty and another solid experiment into the wild category from Firestone. I really hope this becomes a bigger program in the future.

On tap at City Beer Store in SF. Described as a "light summer ale," which didn’t really do this justice. However I’d put it more in the Belgian wit or Belgian golden ale category. Cloudy golden color with a nice white head and solid retention. Aroma is pale malt, yeast, light fruits, and a little funk. Flavor is more of the same, with a little honey and fruity esters. Really light and refreshing on the palate. An ideal summer beer.

5/16/09 on draft at Brouwer’s. Aroma is light true pepper with some background sweetness, simple but good. Appearance is hazy gold with a very well maintained white head. Flavor is smooth with light pepper, earthy malt and low bitterness. Mouthfeel has a slightly low carb feel for the style and is medium bodied. Overall, very good and as sessionable as the style should be.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2009 Draught at the brewery tasting room. Hazy gold with a creamy white head. Wheat malt and herbal spice aroma. Duusty, doughy yeast, wheat tanginess. Pretty dry and refreshing, a bit fruity with lightly biter herbal hops in the finish. Light bodied, but still plenty of body considering the abv. Snappy carbonation. The wheat character is hight, with just a bit of farmhouse yeast influence, but overall a good summer quaffer. I could definitely session this one. (3.4) rerate: At the brewery again. This year it seems to be smoother and fruitier with more spice as well. A very nice, very drinkable saison.
