Our twist on the German Märzen bier, we give you a Paso Märzen. Traditional imported malts offer subtle honey-like aromas with hints of Noble hop spice. The stars of this brew are the imported Pilsner and Vienna malts that offer malty sweetness that carry through to the end. German Hallertau hops add rich Noble hop character to balance this exceptional Marzen. This beer is 100% stainless steel and gets the name Oaktoberfest as an ode to our hometown, Paso Robles, Spanish for "Pass of The Oaks". True to Oktoberfest custom, this beer makes its debut in time for fall to celebrate the age-old German tradition.

From a can. Fresh and sweet malty aroma. Pours golden in colour with a frothy white head. Sweet malt flavour with some spice notes and a touch of dry woodiness. There is some balancing hoppy bitterness as well. Medium body and a balanced finish.

On tap at Hot Shots in Pismo Beach. Thin white head and a dark gold body. Aroma is of biscuit and a bit of malt. Tastes of malty marzen, but not much hop. Quite frankly, I was expecting a bit more intensity for an Octoberfest. So many great ones to choose from right now and I'm afraid this one just doesn't stand out from the crowd. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Shiny copper, calling me in. Thin but staying head. This is exceptionally smooth, with classical Fest qualities ... light caramel, a little bit of pleasant wood finish, and a little Teutonic hop kiss. (#6376, 10/16/2016)

Appearance: clear pale gold with one fat finger of rocky white head, good retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: light caramel and honey, crackery malt, grassy hay. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Medium-light body, moderate carbonation, sweetish medium duration lightly bitter finish. (3/5) Not my favourite style, by a long shot, but a decent implementation regardless. Not as interesting as I was hoping for, though: it isn’t actually oak-aged, but rather named after Paso Robles, the hometown of Firestone Walker. So, no oak character, and only very mild hops. Still, pleasant enough. Very easy drinking and something one could drink a few of, presumably while eating large chunks of pig and listening to a tuba band. (13/20)
