COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Bottle. A strong fruity aroma, light sour hint of grapefruit, some vanilla. The white creamy head has a normal size, the body is pale yellow. The taste is quite bitter and a little bit fruity. The body is rather light, dry and creamy with a lively carbonation.

12pz bottle shared by Chalemeaux. Thanks, TJ! Pours copper with a big off white head. Aroma is orange, grapefruit, bread. Flavor is sweet. Honey, brown bread, muld grapefruit hop. I think this is probably past its prime. Should re-rate if I get a chance to try this fresh.

Poured from bottle dated 7/31/14 clear golden color with a one finger white head. Aromas of floral hops and citrus. Taste is somewhat dry with a sweet malt feel and a slightly lingering mild bitterness almost like the hops fell off due to the age. I am sure it would be better fresh.

Bottled March 18, 2015.
Glass: Duvel tulip.
Appearance: Clear golden and sparkling body, dense off-white head that has great retention.
Aroma: Mild aroma hinting at some bitterness, a bit floral with caramel notes, maybe some DMS, which would be surprising for FW.
Taste: Crisp and floral with a mild malt sweetness, some caramel noted.
Palate: Light to medium bodied, crisp carbonation.
Overall: Crisp pale ale, but a tad sweet and maybe some DMS. The worst beer I’ve had from FW.

Calisky (1743) - ALSACE, FRANCE - APR 26, 2015
Superbe!

Out of bottle. Better than average pale ale. Good hop aroma, citrus and pine with a decent malt backbone.
