COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Bottle. Golden yellow with a foamy white head. Aromas of citrus, peach, ginger, great. Dry taste, pleasent bitterness. Decent malty hoppy bitterness. Great pale ale.

Pours golden with medium-lived off-white head. The nose reveals notes of citrus, mango, apricot, berry; overall bright fruity notes combined with light earthiness reminiscent of noble hops and a hint of pine and caramel. The flavor is not as big as could be expected from the nose; it even feels a little watery but still fitting for a regular pale ale. The bittnerness on mid-palate is moderate and the finish doesn’t reveal much of a heat from the alcohol. The aroma of piny resin is a little bit more obvious upon taking a sip than it was initially on the nose. The carbonation might be slightly above average, but not enough to be in the flavors’ way by any means. A very nice one; I’ll have another right away.

12oz bottle bb12/2014, ransomed on a hot cycling day from the only chilled OetkerFactum treasury@Stadelbauer Getränke. "No. 622". Drinks very clean, lean and almost as Kölsch-like as its dryhopped Braufactum Colonia neighbour in the fridge: somehow Centennal and Chinook enhance this cold & crisp palate feel, sanding the appealing fruitiness off Cascade and Fuggle for a more straightforward bitterness. Impossible to tell 4 malts have been used: thininish and sessionable at below 5%, only not at this imported ransom price.

BBD: 04.15; Little floral, citrus aroma. Pale-Golden color, very clear. Small head but lasting till glass is empty. Not very bitter, light malty body, good drinkability. Nice beer but not superior.

CacheManyHose (187) - HONG KONG - JUN 13, 2014
Draught from the Bottle Shop stall at PMQ. Crystal clear honey amber pour. Smells of malt and wet grassy hop, maybe a bit of rubber. Tastes of hop and slight corn (?). Nice oily body. Definitely not bad for a pale ale.

Bottle from Bottle Shop at PMQ. Light golden pour. Light hoppy aroma with bready malts. Mild hops bitterness with sweet malty backbone. Not terribly interesting but easy drinking pale ale.

From a 0.355l bottle @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. This is a crystal clear golden one with a nice medium sized white lacing top. Light hoppy malty aroma, yeah it has some fruitiness also in the form of light apricot and peaches. Nice. It’s above average on the carbonation and light oily on the mouthfeel. A bit minerallish in the taste I guess. Lots of grassy bitter hops, some more of those peachy fruits found in the aroma. It’s a really lightdrinkable and tasty one. Sessionable. 04.05.2013

Pours a very clean golden color with a very nice, thick white, bubbly head. Aroma has a strong floral, light grassy hoppiness with light notes of orange and lemon citrus. Flavor starts off with a very strong floral flavor that creates a sweet nectar like flavor. Light grassy notes with just a touch of toasted malt come in the finish of the brew. Body is light, slightly watery with a low amount of carbonation. Overall a really good pale ale. I love the nectar sweetness of the beer without it being cloying. The malt comes in at just the right time to break up the mild sweet from earlier in the tasting. Very good example of what an american pale ale should be.

Soapy, a bit hoppy, very well balanced aroma with a bit leather feel to do the malts, very intruging. The taste is very very well balanced but with little bitterness, and very clean, with some hoppy aroma that resemble lemons without the sourness, very clean, easy going and enjoyable.
