COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Pours a very bright clear golden color with white head. Pine and citrus, as well as some floral notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes clean and crisp. Very nice.

Bottled poured into a nonic pint glass. Deep gold hay pour, thin white head. Aroma of lemongrass, orange zest, grass. Taste is juicy, lemon, orange, grass, bit of sweet malt. Bit of a bitter bite. A tad thin. Would drink Pivo Pils or Easy Jack over this.

The date on the side of the bottle says "03/11/14." At 4.9%, should I be worried here on May 25, 2014? After smelling and tasting, I say no, and here’s why. I poured this into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice transparent super light yellow to orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dies within less than a minute and leaves a nice foamy spotted lacing sticking nicely to the sides of the glass. The smell was quite floral yet citrusy in a nice light sort of way. The taste was florally sweet with the citrusy aspect only slightly being there. There is no aftertaste. But there is a decent citrusy dry finish. On the palate, this beer sits exceptionally light and shows a great sessionability about it. The carbonation has a decent harshness about it. Overall, I say this is a very nice American Pale Ale by Firestone Walker and I would gladly love to have this again fresher.

Bottle courtesy of jcartamdg. Cheers, Jason! Pours a mostly clear yellow-gold with a white head. Nose is some nice caramel and sweet light malt with some floral and grassy hops. Flavor is similar with caramel, light malt, some grassy and floral hops. Light in body and a beer that was great once I warmed up to it a little.

Pours a translucent gold with a thick white head. Aroma of balanced malt and hops. Taste is bold bitter hops with a slightly sweet malty finish. Solid pale that’s really drinkable.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Clear gold with a nice white head and swarms of tine bubbles going from the bottom up. Tempting. Clean hoppy nose, light fruitiness, glass, floral, perfumy, light malt. Fresh malt flavors, hop fruitiness (citrus peel), med-hi bitterness. Perfect carbonation, light-med body, somewhat creamy, balanced with a pleasant bitter finish. Highly sessionable. Cool.

355ml bottle from Bier-Deluxe.

Clear golden orange outfit with small white head. Fresh aroma and taste. After cutting grass from backyard this feels superb!

Bottle from Bob’s.

Gold pour, full white pour. Grapefruit and pineapple dominate the aroma with some floral goings-on as well. Bready malts meet crisp but not aggressive hops in a flavor that is similar but less metallic than some "Californian pale ales" I can think of. Just a touch of toffee sweetness. Unchallenging but all the more enjoyable for that.

Bready, biscuit malt, and grapefruit, floral aroma. Biscuit and light caramel malt flavor. Citrus hop flavor; more floral in the finish. Lingering bitterness and fruit.
