Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Another good session beer in the same vein as the Easy Jack. Crisp, slightly less citrus and more floral than its counterpart.

Firestone Walker Pale 31 4.9% Crystal clear gold with a lovely tropical fruit juicy hop bouquet. Medium bodied with some honeyed biscuit, light earthiness and good sweet fruit character. A solid California Pale Ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Bradley’s, Cork [240416]
Blonde, clear, frothy white head
Aroma of citrus, soft lemon, no malts, light sweet
Taste of citrus hops, soft zest, light sweet pale malt, soft lemon, touch floral
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, light sweet, light zest bitter. Finish of soft sweet fruits, zest
Overall - Decent enough - but not a patch on their other beers I’ve tried. Bottle a bit old so hops probably have faded

Tap: very pale color. Huge hoppy lift. Opposite end of the spectrum to the DBA’s. The palate has increased bitterness although it’s very fine and fresh.

12oz can. 12/22/15 can date. Appearance: Golden, clear, moderate white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma: Light breadiness, light grassy hop aroma. Pretty mild hop notes for the style. Taste: Light crackery maltiness, grassy and resinous hop flavor, with a minimal citrus character. Perceived bitterness is high. Mouthfeel: Light to medium body, moderately high carbonation. Finish: Strong grassy, resin hop character lingers. Sticky on the tongue and dry. Overall: A nice, refreshing beer, but wouldn’t qualify it as a top example of the style...but that may be driven by the fact that it’s nearly 4 mths old. Aroma is pretty low key for the style, and flavor lacks some complexity of others. Would be interested to try a fresher version to see if the character is the same.
