COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with a short-lived cap of white head. The aroma picked up mild juicy citrus and pine hoppage over a soft caramel and bready base.. simple, but pleasant. The flavor found toffee and lesser honey sweetness at the core.. black peppery notes and juicy citrus bitterness around.. well-balanced with a clean, crisp, refreshing finish. Light-bodied with a little bit lower carbonation than I’d like on the palate.. other than that, spicy and tasty.. very, very drinkable.

Decent Pale... not too much to say about this one. Tastes like an English ale with a little extra bitterness, very light head from bottle, very drinkable but not memorable. Serve cold.

Bottle thanks to douglas88. Pours a nice clear dark blond/red with very little head. This aroma is pretty hoppy for a pale ale and there is a kind of a woody undertone. There is more bitter than carmel or toffee flavors and a nice light dry finish. A great beer to drink all night.

This beer has a nice, clear golden color and a bubbly but relatively light head. The nose is hoppy, citric and floral, with a balancing malt sweetness. The taste is balanced with some good hop bitterness which is balanced out nicely for a smooth pale ale flavor. There’s a lot of citrus from the hops. The feel is fairly light with good carbonation for its lightness. It’s a very drinkable pale ale.

Received as extra from mkade8883. Thanks, Matt! Nice lookin’ beer!Pale copper and clear with minimal, off-white head. More amlt in the nose reminiscent of Bass (still oneof my favorite standbys). Sharp and dry on the tongue with a clean finish. Highly sessionable though I wish there was a little more malt to it. Would buy this as "standard inventory" if it was readily available.

Shipped to me by my wife from a trip out west this beer poured a yellow-gold color with a medium sized soapy yellow-white head that lingered. The aroma was lightly fruity, floral and a touch nutty. The flavor was tangy and a little bitter with notes of caramel, fruit and touches of pineapple and grapefruit. Medium length hoppy finish and medium body. Decent.

Reviewed 1/16/2010 (Bottle): Pours a very clear, pale yellow color body, big white foamy head, big bubbles, lasting. Very hoppy aroma, citrus and dry. Some sweetness too. Bitter. Pale dry taste, drying citrus. Mostly clean aftertaste. Nice pale ale. Not complex, but good, almost sessionable.

Compliments of uncle Steve. pours a nice dark yellow, clear and clean. Head laces to sides nicely. Even with a cold, the hoppy aroma comes through nicely. Nice light hop flavor that is not overdone. Mouthfeel is good but not great. Bittering on backside is light.

I liked this a lot! Nice floral nose at pouring. Poured a butterscotch color with head that disipated to a nice lacing around edge. Great mouthfeel with JUST the right amount of hops. Nice bittering at the end. Sure would love to find this in NC regularly! Thanks to the Magic of DrBayern and his Magic Bus trip to Beantown!

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a amberish shady golden appearance with a low firm white head. Rich aromatic fruity aroma of resin, Seville oranges, flowers and apricots. Medium-bodied with notes of resin, apricots, nectarines, Seville oranges, mild wet grass and subtle grapefruit. Surprisingly smooth mouthfeel with gentle carbonation. Long medium-bitter and fruity finish of resin, Seville oranges, dried apricots, red grapefruit and yellow plums. A tasty, flavorful and very fruity hop aromatic pale ale.
