COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Firestone pale 31. Draft at Haven, orange, ca... Pours a mostly trans orange cidery brown with a medium fluffy white head ... Crisp citrus hop profile, not too assertive... Flavors are citrusy hopped focus with a semi-dry finish. Lighter bodied but understandable given the abv. 7/4/7/3/14

Pours clear and golden, average head and lace for a PA. Citrus nose with a hint of malt. Fresh taste with a little sweet up front and some hop on the finish. Some chalk on the aftertaste.

A: Pours a deep gold with a nice wheat head. S: Plenty of hops for the style with some mild sweetness. T: Slightly sweet malt with some citrus/grapefruit hops. M: Medium bodied and well-carbonated. D: Quite good in this department. A nice, low abv beer with plenty of hops--my definition of great session-style drinkability. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-01-2009

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2012 1) 12oz bottle. Brilliant orange-gold with a spotted white sheet of foam. Tinned peaches and honey aroma with a soggy biscuit backdrop. Tang of marmalade hop upfront ending cleanly with a crisp bitterness and dunked biscuit, wafery, orange cream aftertaste. Straightforward tasty stuff, and a fine brew to kick the weekend off with...but (there’s almost always a but), the hopping is watery and peachy sweet compared to the pale ales of equivalent strength being brewed on the other side of the pond... 2) Tap@Hopmonk Somoma, CA, 14/08/12 (as "Hopmonk Tavern Ale".) Proper pint. Frosted gold draped thinly. Bostin rubbed hop merging into peach, honey and lemon aroma. Peach iced tea taste. Alright. 736313.

Light head, great lacing. Aroma and taste of pine and resin with a perfect caramel malt backbone. Medium carbonation and a slight, short-lasting bitterness. Not as well balanced as the Union Jack, but highly sessionable.

Pours pale amber with foamy white head and lacing. Notes of pine cones. Well balanced taste; crisp and sessionable.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of thirdeye11 (thanks!) poured into a pint glass. Golden color, just a bit cloudy, with a thick head that leaves some lacing. Wonderful fruity citrus aroma -- very strong and bold for a pale ale. Apricot, grapefruit, apple and honey aromas -- smells like a fresh fruit cup. Nice and well balanced. Apple and citrus flavors with some malty sweetness. Not as hoppy as the aroma would indicate -- what I would expect from a pale ale. Medium to light bodied with a dry, peppery finish. Very smooth and easily drinkable -- this would make a really nice session beer -- if only it were available in this area.

Rerating as of a few beers later........ Beer is an excellent session ale. Aroma is sweet malty and light citrus hops, bright. Appearance is orange brown. Crystal clear. Small white head. Taste is malt and hops balanced very nicely. Hops are very floral and citrus, slight earthy. Honey, caramel, strawberry... very mild. Palate is light, a little watery, drinkable. Overall this is a very nice beer. Hops are perfect IMO. Could have a bit fuller palate for my liking, but perfect for session drinking. Excellent session beer. One of the best commercial examples I have had.

12 oz bottle. Grass, resin and floral abound on the taste buds. Decent beer but have had better in the style.

Citrus, floral, and sweet malt. Golden-amber, white head with decent lacing. Grassy, orange peel, mild caramel, and citrus flavour. Dry finish.
