COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Big Top, Roslyn PA variety case: Pours a golden colour with a white head. Aroma is fruity, pineapple, hoppy, and has a nice malt backbone. This is delightfully refreshing, slightly sweet, and actually a bit complex. The fruity hops cut through the malts to provide real character to the beer. I could chug this or sip it just as easily. It really is quite good.

Originally reivewed: 5/12/09. Pours a cloudy gold with a billowy white head bursting forth. Excellent retention throughout the entire drink, leaving some spotty lacing on the glass edge. Smells of malty biscuits, honey-kissed breads, and slight floral finish. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. Flavor is of buttery bread, sweet candied malts, and finishes with just a touch of hoppy bitterness. With the low ABV and great flavor profile, this has got to be one of the most drinkable APAs I’ve ever had. I could drink these one after the other all summer long. Recommend.

This is what I remember beer to be: from my Anchor Steam beginnings of my youth to my Pliny the Elder hop-head tendencies (and when spending $5 or $6 for a bottle of beer made sense). 30 years ago this might have been considered a bold American beer but in 2012 this is simply great beer.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2012 + mooie geel gouden kleur. + fris fruitige zoete geur. 1ste smaak - groente, 2de smaak - bitter, 3de smaak - door de bittere smaak is de 3de smaak niet goed proefbaar.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich bitter hops, flowers, malt, peach, pine and notes of caramel. Nice bitter finish.

Pours a clear orange with a thick white head that slowly fades to a nice lacing around the glass. The aroma is dominated by citrusy hops & the taste follows suit. There is some nice hoppiness upfront followed by a nice clean & crisp finish. Very well balanced and quite tasty. I’m typically not a huge pale ale fan but this beer is quite good and I would highly recommend.

Draft at Churchkey. Pours a clear orange. Nose and flavor are marked by peach, bread apricot, and light European hop presence. Such a nice balance of sweetness and non-aggressive hop bitterness. So balanced, and delicious.
