Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Poured golden with nose of Banana, lemon and hops. The hop flavor is spot on and balanced with the light bitterness. A little floral for me at the end, but not bad..

8 aug 2012, bottle. Yellow, clear, steady bubbles. Nose is grapefruit rind hops. Thin body and fizzy. Mildly bitter grapefruit rind with some kind of floral or peach hints. Decent malt balance with a slight slant towards hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: golden, clear, white foam, moderate dissipation, nice retention. Aroma: citrus, floral, spruce, moderate grapefruit notes. Taste: medium bitterness, light acidity. Palate: medium body, lively, bitter. Crisper than many APA’s, this beer is an approachable "hoppy beer" that finishes crisp and dry. Excellent drinkability. Overall, this is an absolutely stellar session beer, especially for those that enjoy the hoppier side of life. Light bodied, yet very flavorful with a crisp, bitter and drying finish. Move over Sierra Nevada Pale, there’s a new sheriff in town.

Bottle at home, from my Minneapolis Town Hall Glass. Pours clear pale honey-gold, moderate white head that laces beautifully. Nose is clean corrugated cardboard (a quite pleasant smell that I rather enjoy, though I realize that "cardboard" has rather negative connotations) along with some light, floral/spicy hops. Flavours are broad and rather bready/biscuity, with some grassy hops, and just a touch of tropical fruit in the finish. Decent, but not overly exciting.

A sort-of boring ipa. Pleasant to drink but not something I would rush to return to. Th finish is also a little short. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
