COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Bottle:   Bright straw, a little cloudy, moderate to large frothy off-white head, nice lacing.   Very soft hop aroma, smidgen of citrus.   A little muted on the tongue, in otherwords its very light on hop flavor.   Has a bit of biscuitiness to it.   Somewhat reminds me of an English Pale.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Backside leaves a bit to be desired.   Finishes too quick, and falls off the tongue very quickly.   I thought this one would be the opposite, but its not.   Decent little beer, if a little underwhelming.

Golden yellow, white cover. Aroma is spicy, piney hops, some crackery malt, but little malt character. Taste is the same, nice West Coast hop juice, light bodied.

On tap at Colibris, SF. Another meh session brew from Firestone I’ve had in the past couple days. This was a fairly dark hued brew with a nice fluffy head and a nose of toasted malts and mild hops. Some more liveliness to taste, with bright fruits and a semi-bitter finish, but could easily pass for a modest amber rather than an APA.

Bottle - clear pale golden - frothy, lasting lace - nose is earthy hops (pine, citrus rind) and crisp, crackery maltiness (quite pleasant, really) - flavor starts with a lightly prickly acidity - taste is crisp, clean, lean malts, moderately earthy, woody hops - a bit of zesty citrus - finish is spicy/peppery - straightforward, almost simple, but very balanced, tasty and refreshing.

Sampled at Deconstructed event during LA Beer Week, a pre-dinner beer. Nice and light. But with a certain English heaviness to it as well. Before I knew it, I had drained the glass.

Bottle @ home. Completely transparent, golden orange appearance with an off white head. Strong piney, grapefruit citrusy, bitter, resin hoppy aroma. Crisp, pale malty, grapefruit, piney hoppy, a bit sticky flavor. Slightly sticky, grapefruity aftertaste. Solid beer.

355mL bottle poured a golden color with loads of white head and some good retention leaving some nice lacing behind. Aroma of grain and hops. Taste is lightly sweet maltiness and some citrus and pine hop bitterness in the finish. This is one of the finest pale ales I have tried.
