3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 1, 2008 On tap @ the Hopmonk. Clear orange with a one finger off-white head, fading to a thick ring and thin film. Aroma of citrus and floral hops with a biscuity malt backbone. Flavor is much the same with a little more perfumey floral notes. Bitterness peaked at a 3 and finished slightly earthy. Light to moderate carbonation with a light body. Good APA.

Golden pale ale with a nice white head with fine beading of bubbles. Toffee and slightly nutty malt aroma with leafy hop aroma (slight citrus)
Nice clean malt note with drying notes of spicy and firm bitterness.
Finish: This is where this beer shines long lasting dry citrus pith like notes with some toffee like notes as well.
Overall: A really well made pale ale. I would say enjoy at cellar temps makes the beer more enjoyable

Bottle at GBBF and one at home. This stuff totally blew me away, like i sampled one at the fest and had to buy one to bring home. Aroma is soo fresh and hoppy, citrus hop resin, leafy green hops, good underlying pale biscuity malt character. Taste is similar, quite a bitter chap too. Like id happily sit and drink like 10 of these every weekend and i wouldnt get bored. Excellent! Lets just hope thats what they are makign a cask vertion of for the wetherspoon fest!

Draft. Clean and crisp with a nice bitter aftertaste. It’s flavorful which makes it a nice session beer. Clear amber body with a nice, off-white head. The aroma is flowery with a hint of lemon, caramel and toffee. The flavor was lightly sweet and moderately bitter, especially in the finish. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Nice, comfortable balance.

Surprisingly flavorful for such a light beer. Very clear and bubbly, but has a really awesome hop presence. Very floral and lemony scent. Has a nice citrus hop finish. A great choice for a session with flavor.

Just had a Firestone Pale Ale on tap. I’m going to assume this is the one, I’ve sampled the Pale 31 and this one was slightly different.
Perfect with the Mexican food I was eating for dinner. Spicy and bitter with a full body. Amber with a frothy head. Not too heavy, just about right for a pale ale.
Earlier Rating: 5/13/2008 Total Score: 3.3
I assume this is what I tried - it was labeled as "Pale 31 - California Pale Ale". Whatever it was, it tasted delicious with the Mexican food we enjoyed it with. Sweet and malty with a strong citrus bitterness from the high volume of hop presence. Crisp is a great defining word. The aroma was the only strange thing - smelled slightly of wet dog.

Pours orange/gold with a smooth white head. Citrus hop nose, crisp and floral. Lighter bodied pale, citrus hops blend with the softly caramel malts. Overall easy drinking floral pale.
