Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Very clean hoppy plis type with wheat flavors in there, I like this a lot. Yum yum

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a smallish white head on it. The nose on this is maltier than I would have expected, with some cereal elements to it; however, the floral hops come through with a little persistence. Taste is also slightly sweeter on the balance end of the spectrum, though there is a bitterness that comes through.

Pours out golden with a small white head. Tiny bit of haze and lots of bubbles floating up. It smells amazing, floral and orange citrus fruit. The flavor is similar but less intense, with a somewhat grainy aftertaste. Great mouthfeel, surprisingly smooth and heavy with a dry finish. I like this more than the Trader Joe’s Mission Street Pale Ale (also Firestone Walker, same or very close recipe). Likely fresher bottle? This one was brewed only a month and a week ago.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of pale and light caramel malts, plus a light, floral hoppiness and some dough. Flavor the same. Average to lighter texture. A decent beer, but more like a pilsener than an APA.

Bottle. Golden, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, caramel and light bread with light tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit - light piney hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and light fruitiness, light grapefruit - piney hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light fruitiness with light - some piney hoppyness. Caramel sweetish APA - could use more hoppyness (and less caramel).

Good pale ale, although somewhat more subdued than I would’ve liked. Pours a fluffy white head that dissipates quickly. Medium gold colour. Great citrusy, somewhat musky aroma. Well-carbonated. Cereal notes on the nose, with a sharp, hoppy, rather bitter finish. All in all somewhat weak in the palate for a top pale ale, but still very enjoyable.

12 oz Bottle. The beer pours to a light golden very clear color with a small head. The aroma has hay, bread & a light hop smell. The taste is very light with a slight floral, some hops & grain. The overall beer is good but nothing special.

Absolutely my favorite beer. Great fresh hop aroma from the Cascade & Centennial hops. Dark gold in appearance w/ a slight head that slowly dissipates leaving a sticky lacing on the glass. Flavor is hop forward w/ a slight malty flavor on the finish. Very easy drinking and great at 4.9%.

Bottle. Taste is hay, grain, light hops and wheat. Firestone makes great beers, but I’m a little surprised by the high rating of this beer. Average.
