COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Scipio (650) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - JAN 21, 2013
Pours a clear golden with a white head that rapidly dissipates. The aroma is more subtle, but it is enticing. Pine, grapefruit, lemon, and grass. It seems to be more along the line of a mild IPA, only better than your lower grade ones. Taste is quite bitter throughout. Mostly grapefruit with some milder pine. There is a little bit of a soapy taste in there as well, especially at the end. Outside of this, while more simple, its actually pretty tasty. This one is crisp and refreshing. Light in body, with a good amount of lively carbonation. I have to say I enjoyed this. It is mostly straightforward and not very complex, but that is ok. Its a great session beer.

RexTalionis (2118) - FINLAND - APR 15, 2014
Bottled. Pours golden in color with a whitish head. Citrus tea with a load of malty and biscuity notes in aroma. Fruity sweetness with notes of honey, some nuttyness and hints of piney bitterness in taste. Feels very well balanced and isn’t overly hopped or bitter in anyway. Overall a nice brew with a good malty backbone that is present in the aftertaste.

Bottle from bier-deluxe.de. Dark golden, clear body, with big, frothy, creamy, white head. Aroma of mango, passion fruit, grapefruit, pine, grass, candy. Tastes of lemon zest, grapefruit, pine and a tasty, smooth malt backbone of caramel, biscuit, grass and some candy. Mouthfeel is medium, slick, with a medium carbonation and it finishes medium bitter, with grapefruit, pine and some candy. A refreshing, greatly balanced example of a west coast Pale Ale, that has tasty citric fruit and pine notes and also a determined malt backbone. Excellent!

ClarkVV (3856) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 8, 2014
Draught at Deep Ellum on 3/8/14
Fine yellow appearance, very clear with a moderate white head that shows medium retention.
Floral hoppiness in the nose plays with lightly sweet malts and clean yeast.
Grapefruit bitterness is quick to impart its touch before honeyed pale malts, well extracted, provide body and balance. Orange and honey-blossom-like maltiness balances the bitter hoppiness but no pine or resin notes keep it light and clean. Very drinkable, though with an assertive body.
