Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

I liked the beer a great deal. Even though I am a hop head through and through, the dry hopping shows through in particular with the aroma and front end of the taste. It is important to note this is billed as and should be tasted as a pale ale not a robust, 70+ ibu IPA. Something I forgot upon first taste. The alcohol content is perfect for an afternoon sipper while cooking on the grill.

Aroma is very floral and grassy, some malt, pine, strong bug spray. Appearance is slightly darker golden, white head, some haze. Taste is very floral, some pine, light and very easy to drink, refreshing. Mouthfeel is light body, light carbonation, crisp, aftertaste is mostly floral hops but the flavor doesn’t stick around. Overall, really very crushable and tasty, albeit light.

12 ounce can. Pours an orange gold color topped by a frothy white head. Fragrant floral hop nose with bready notes. First sip yields lightly toasted malt flavor with biscuity notes. Smooth and flavorful middle with a hint of nutty goodness. Crisp, dry finish has a touch of citrus hops. Well balanced and quite drinkable.

Like many of Firestone Walker’s beautifully hoppy beers, Pale 31 gives a nod to the English style. One place it can be seen is with this beer’s use of Maris Otter, which gives a biscuit-like backbone to this beer’s balance. Pale 31 pours a golden shade. Floral aromatics and flavors of lemongrass, grapefruit zest, mango, orange, and black pepper. Bright and medium-bodied, this beer is easy to put away. Definitely a solid example of what Firestone Walker is all about.

Super smooth and full of flavor. A bit too golden in color but it's the taste that matters. Floral finish helps make this a bit more muted than other pale ales ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
