COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of Californiaóthe 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where weíre from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

12 oz bottle, shaker glass, 50įF. Tall, frothy, white head seems to be well lasting and rests on an amber-orange body with a slight yeast haze. Toasted light bread, grain malt (L); orangey hops (M); oak notes. Okay, so "orangey" doesn't completely describe the hop profile, but it is nice. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter flavor becomes a moderately bitter finish. Lingering orange rind taste in the finish. Medium body, watery (sort of creamy) texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: needs a heftier malt bill so the oak flavors can really take hold and to keep the hops in check.

Pours a medium amber color with a nice white head and decent lacing. Aroma is hoppy and sweet. Flavor is quite sweet with some bitterness especially in the aftertaste. Thin mouthfeel but not a bad beer.

A pretty good APA. Light amber color and almost no head. It has a good hop presence and quite a bit of malt sweetness as well. Somewhat boring palate/mouthfeel and the sweetness may be a bit much. Smooth and pretty well rounded. Extremely drinkable and better than I anticipated.

bottle 12 oz. Cloudy orange/amber w some dark flakes. Very small head that fell quick, min lace. Aroma is iced tea & malt w a touch of oak & grapefruit w some hops. Flavor is lt/med roasted MALTY w moderate hops & bitterness. A bit sweet, a tad thin on the mouthfeel but into the med bodied range. Lightly smoked oak flavor. Nice balance between creamy malt & hop flavor and bitterness. Odd iced tea nose is noticed every time I take a dip.... Interesting.

Bright, clear and amber-gold with a decent head. Flowery nose. Smooth and all right mouthfeel; perhaps a little light at times. Malts were tasty, with notes of caramel and toffee. Hops were nice, too, with notes of fresh flowers and sugar-coated grass. Balancing bitterness as well. Bitter aftertaste. For the most part, clean, pleasant and flavorful session beer.

Bottle. Pours a pale orange, thin off white head, not much lacing on my glass. Aroma isnít very strong, some hops but not much else. A crisp malt flavor, nicely hopped but not too much, some citrusy flavors in there too. Hops dominate the finish. Not bad, not outstanding, Iíd definetly drink it again but Iíve had better pale ales.

This looks real good, a golden/amber color with a hardy, creamy white head. The aroma is hops, pine with a backup scent of oranges. The ale is medium to light bodied and has a lively carbonation. Itís flavor begins with a light caramel/toffee malt combination. On top of that is a healthy-but-balanced dosage of northwestern hop bitterness. The hops donít get carried away, but carry the flavor and finish of the beer. Good session material.

Bottle shared with GregClow, tupalev and jerc. Pours a mildly sparkling amber with an average fizzy white head. It has a strong herbal/floral hops aroma -- itís actually deceiving as the taste isnít as hoppy as the aroma would lead you to believe. Flavourís still nice and hoppy but a bit too subtle, itís a little lacking. Overall itís a nice, enjoyable Pale Ale.

Golden amber color with a small white head. Aroma of orange-pineapple. Flavor is lightly sweet with some spicy citrus bitterness, finishing kinda dry and orange rind bitter. A nice tangy APA.

Bottle poured a dark amber with a good head and sticky lacing. Good hopy, citrus aroma. Body is a bit watery, with a weak hops and citrus flavor. Not bad. Would make a good, easy drinking everyday beer.
