COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Bready malt aroma, nuts. Slight piney hops aroma. Restrained hopping, good sweet fruit malt characters, and some mild spice(mint?) charactetize the flavor. Vibrant well carbed palate is a little over board for me, but there is a pleasant buttery mouth on this beer.

Maker: Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Paso Robles/California, USA *** Beer: Firestone Pale 31 (bottled, 330ml) *** Style: American Pale Ale *** ALC.VOL.: 4.9% *** "Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish." [brewery notes] *** Colour: Deep golden yellow, clear, with a small, fluffy white head. *** Nose: Grapefruit and pinewood, some herbs. *** Texture: Medium-bodied, not too watery, moderate carbonation. *** Taste: Strong, dry, resinous pinewood with citrus fruit at the start. Very bitter. Pine and herbs towards the middle, fruit now muted. More resin. Finish is moderately bitter, again with citrus fruit, the latter being dominant in the after taste. *** Impressions: After the splendid "Union Jack IPA", another winner from Firestone. Characterful, flavorful traditional APA which pushes all the right taste buttons. Highly recommended.
