Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

Crystal clear gold with a small white head. The aroma is slightly toasted malt with a touch of caramel and citrusy hops. The flavor is even more malty, and very tasty. Hops are a bit subdued but work wonderfully with the malt. Extremely well balanced and very tasty. Best actual pale ale I’ve had in a long time.

Draft at Spacebar. Poured a nice, hazy golden yellow color with a nice amount of carbonation, nice small white head on top. Aroma was light grassy notes, floral hop character that smells so fresh, enjoyable. Flavor was nice light pine notes, with some mild grassy character. Light tropical fruit notes. Light malts. Delicious, easy to drink, Pretty tasty.

Bottle from a trade with douberd. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of caramel and flowery hops. Taste is on the dry side, moderate bitter crisp flowery hops, honeyish malty backgound, light resiny and herbal bite at the finish. High carbonated.

12 oz. bottle from Mollie Stones. This one walks the line with caramel toasty malt and floral citrus hops. Not too sweet, not too bitter. A lot going on. Smooth. Not earth shattering but definitely complex and tasty. Well crafted.

12 oz bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Hazy golden with a full, off-white head. Aroma: Crisp grapefruit and grainy maltiness, a little floral and more citrus, fairly clean. Palate: Medium body with moderate to low carbonation. Flav.: Maltier than the nose with some Vienna or Munich, still has decent citrus hop notes with a lightly floral aspect; dry with decent bitterness and a clean, citrus and Vienna malt finish.

Fair to good.
