Poured that deep black color, and I could catch that hint of oatmeal with smell, but was pretty subtle. Was not as creamy and smooth as I expected but still extraordinary

Oh why, mess around-- I love this beer and have for years. It is everything a big impy stout should be...viscous, balanced flavors (of anise, cocoa, coffee, and molasses), semi-sweet, and just plain unflawed. love it.

Draft at Coganís Pizza. Pours a deep brown to black with a tiny rim of creamy light brown head. Aroma is an amazing mix of cocoa, roasted malts, huge vanilla, touch of bourbon. Flavor has a nice sweetness to it, light roasted malts, vanilla. Alcohol is well hidden, creamy body. Exquisite.

Tap @CBC15. Black with big creamy white head. Roasted aroma, coffee and light licorice. Thick, slick mouthfeel. Bittersweet licorice with cocoa and coffee notes. Long, sticky and bitter finish. Good stuff.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
651 ml. bottle. Vintage 2015. Pours a medium, gradually diminishing, beige head, with minimal lacing over a black (SRM 50) body.......nose is tobacco, Bourbon, fruits including raisin, plum, cocoa, chocolate from the roasted malts, minimal hops, boveril, balance to the malts.......taste is sweet with dried fruits including plum, raising, cherry, fig, brown sugar notes, mild cocoa, chocolate, with slight coffee from the roasted malts, Bourbon, vanilla, tobacco, finishing with a light hop/roasted malt bitterness, balance to the malts.......mouth feel, thick chewy body, alcohol burn slightly present, carbonation makes a creamy mouthful. This is a rich, thick, heavy, sweet, complex beer. It is more on the sweet/desert end of the style, with minimal umami notes. The alcohol is almost, but not quite, hidden by the heavy sweetness. The sweetness is almost too dominant. BJCP 9/3/16/4/8

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2015 edition. Poured from a bomber into a chalice on 03.25.15.
A: Bourbon, chocolate, fig, vanilla, raisin oatmeal, dark fruit, allspice, and molasses. Amazing smell. Bourbon dominant, but balanced.
A: 1/2 finger off-white head, which recedes quickly to a ring with spots of foam. Black body with lots of see through brown and red in the glass.
T: Bourbon, raisin oatmeal, cherry, and molasses dominate. Oak woodiness, nuttiness, vanilla, and allspice are subtle.
P: Silky smooth. Itís on the lighter side, but still somewhat syrupy.
O: Itís amazingly complex. The alcohol is hidden for 14% ABV, though it does warm nicely. Bourbon dominates, but all of the flavors are balanced. Itís a world class beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap a Frisco, Columbia. Dark brown black with thin tan head. Aroma is oaky, boozy, molasses, vanilla and Cuban cigars. Starts of with alcohol warmth and dark chocolate, molasses and vanilla. Finish is roasty dark chocolate and vanilla. It is a sipper, but I had trouble sipping it because it was just so tasty.
