4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and 8 ozs. served to a snifter with a darkest brown color, brownish tan cream & bubbles head foam, and streaks and spots of clingy lacing. The aroma presented rich, roasty malt, bakerís chocolate, woodiness, caramel, with hints of aromatic and sweet pipe tobacco. The flavor added strong hop bitterness, maybe some mocha notes, big bourbon with compatible warmth, and a dry & bitter finish that evoked some astringency. The body was full, and the texture was a tad syrupy. Still an impressive brew to sip and enjoy.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ home. Deep black appearance with a brown head. Tobacco, bourbon, slightly charred, oaky, fig aroma. Sweet caramel, bourbon, tobacco, fig, dark toffee, dark chocolate flavor. Some booze and warming on the finish. Slightly charred, oaky, dark chocolate aftertaste. Pretty complex brew but it falls short of being legendary while still being a great beer.

Oily opaque brown/black with a thin cocoa colored head. Aroma is cocoa and marshmallow, even when itís cold, and taste is the same, and perhaps the richest I have ever experienced, with mild bourbon and burnt wood throughout and into the finish. Just amazing. $16/22oz

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: OCT 6, 2011 Pours a black color with a caramel colored head that breaks down to an oily slick with a very thin soapy head. So much going on with the aroma. Aroma of dark fruit and chocolate with hints of coffee, cherry, earthiness, and bourbon. Wow. Has a silky, creamy sweet caramel, chocolate taste with a nice bitter, biting layer from the barrel. Perhaps some citrusy hops are coming through. Some notes of dark fruit, coffee, and bourbon on the finish. What a beer. FW is truly an excellent brewery.

Thanks to FooFaa for bringing this to the Inaugural "Imminent Liquidation Bottle Share" Event. Bottle poured into a taster glass.
A - Pours pitch black with a small cap of half finger tall tan head, dissipating down to almost nothing, leaving little to no lacing down the glass.
S - Plenty of dark malt, chocolate, vanilla, dulled bourbon heat, and some light charred wood. Good overall balance but nothing too over the top. Solid Stuff.
T - Flavors are similar to the nose. Lots of dark roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and charred oak. The booze is very well hidden, offering only short glimpses of the warming bourbon. Finish is a mix of sweetness and lightly warming heat. Damn, this is one good beer. I might need to get a few bottles of this for myself.
M - Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Nice full feel with some lingering sweet roast in the finish.
D - Very good. I have wanted to try this one for awhile now and now that I have I am impressed. I just wish I would have picked up a few bottles for myself.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured pitch black with no head. Smelled of espresso, chocolate, and vanilla. The beer was incredibly sweet, like a dark chocolate milk shake. Surprisingly, there is very little bitterness, and unfortunately it needs it to balance the sweetness. Still, a great beer.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bomber poured into a snifter, a dark black with tan head. Aroma is a bit of licorice, booze, and roasted malt. Taste is booze, dark chocolate, smokiness, oak on the finish. I also get the sweet tobacco notes that they noted in the description. The finish is very long on the complex ABV bomb. Not too sweet and not bitter. Lacing is decent, body is full, lower carbonation. Overall, this is a terrific beer that has a lot going on. Would be great on a cool fall evening, or as a dessert any time.
