This poured a very dark brown with a large beige head considering the ABV. Aroma was of chocolate, marshmellow and vanillay bourbon. Flavor was just as impressive as the aroma, lots of dark sugars, and chocolate sweetness. Alcohol is hidden very well here too.

4.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bought 2 bottles. 1 for now and 1 to age. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Faint aromas of dark chocolate and coffee. Flavors of semi sweet dark chocolate, espresso coffee, roasted nuts, a little vanilla, a little bourbon and dark fruits. Lingers impressively on the palate with a mouth coating finish. Overall an outstanding imperial stout.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by Beerman6686 at RBSG. Pours near black with a beige head. I got smores in the nose for some reason, along with roasted malts and bourbon. The flavor has bourbon, dark fruit, light smoke, coffee, roasted malt, and vanilla. Good stuff.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
2010 batch shared at the May Santa Cruz tasting. Pours darkest brown, nearly black, with a coffee colored head. Aromas of sugary coffee, dark chocolate, graham crackers, and roasted malt. Flavor is punishingly strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate, immense roastiness, eternal black coffee bitterness, smoldering oak. Just an obliterating beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
4oz pour at Rustico. Oily, opaque black with a thin, beige head. Nice, chocolatey aroma, a little booze, cookies, malty, a little soy, brown sugar, molasses. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, soy, a little burnt toast, chocolate, cocoa powder, malty, a little maple. Full bodied, sweet, lightly hot finish. Pretty smooth. Nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a bottle at SAVOR. Poured a pitch black color with a small but thick tan head. Aroma was coffee, roasted malts, alcohol, but a lot less harsh than I expected from 13% ABV. Flavor was Bourbon, roasted malts, molasses, dried fruits, rounded off with a touch of coffee. Pretty freaking fantastic.

22 ounce boxed bomber. Pitch black and light tan head. Nice bourbon aroma. Bourbon and licorice taste. Very smooth for how strong it is.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared at a recent small tasting. Split between three people. Beer served in a snifter. Beer is dark black and forms a one fingered head of small brown bubbles that leaves some lacing on the glass. Nice.
Aroma is bourbony and nice. Its a little hot in the nose, much hotter in the nose than in the mouth.
This is close to the perfect tasting beer. Its creamy and smooth, mildly sweet up front, not hot in the mouth. A subtle and well balanced liquor flavors, nice bourbon character. Its mildly dry but not harsh or acrid. Good roast in the back, some almost coffee like flavors. Very wonderful beer. I would drink this again if given the opportunity.

Brown/red pour with creamy tan head and lace. Chocolate and coffee on the nose. Flavor mirrors the aroma with a just right warmth. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is a really good imperial stout. Thickish but not overboard, just a tad sweet. Really really good. If I could afford it, I’d drink this all the time.
