4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2013 This is a big, decadent beer. Chocolate on nose. Alchohol noticeable in aroma and back of throat but not offensive. Carries 13% well considering. Long deep dark chocolate flavor with bourbon very well integrated in a supporting role. Awesome.
>>’12 rerate. Enjoyed after a year in the bottle. Just amazing. Decadent, a lot more coffee than I remember. Just a treat.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
bomber via stefanje in double secret trade. Nose of wet wood and an empty glass of bourbon. first taste is rich and massive bodied creaminess. Bourbon slinks in second and sticks about circling. low repeated waves follow in succession with the waves of thick creamy darkness. Malt robustness does not come up as much as I thought it would as it warms. Yet, the whole package here in this 2010 bottle is still well presented and luscious. Thanks man, you are too much.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, Batch #001, shared by badnewsbeers. Inky dark brown opaque body with reddish edges, thin tan head. Strong, inky nose with buttery oak, bourbon, bubblegum, molasses, grape, soy, and alcohol heat. Soft oaky body with bourbon (including vanilla and coconut), inky soy, molasses, and roasted malts. Chewy and rich, but not too decadent.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a bottle thats been sitting in its box, but I cannot properly cellar it so... Poured jet black, with a strong burbon aroma. Also chocolate, coffee, and dark fruits. Flavor is also along these lines. Amazing! Has a little heat when you breath after a sip. Palate is nice, on the medium full body and finishes dry. Overall a great beer, and I look forward to more beers in the cardboard box!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
22 oz. bottle, 2011 vintage- Pours black as black with a thin brown tan head. Aroma is wood, bourbon, chocolate. The flavor is so smooth, it just coats your mouth, chocolate, oak, mild bitterness from the hops, bourbon. Body is huge and as I said before, it just coats your whole mouth, carbonation is low to medium. Overall I loved this beer, almost a perfect imperial stout, awesome!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Batch 2 - June 2011.
A - Pitch black body with a dark khaki head that didn’t stick around too long. Excellent lacing and retention.
S - Loads of bourbon, coffee, and chocolate. Roasted malts, and some slight alcohol.
T - Bourbon. Extremely smooth and buttery. The usual RIS chocolate, roasted malts, and coffee are here as well. Just amazingly smooth and well balanced. Its warming but the alcohol isn’t dominant at all. The mouth feel is really velvety and smooth.
O - A delicious barrel aged RIS. I prefer bourbon county stout over this, but then again I’ve only had the 2009 vintage. This beer is already crazy smooth and delicious at a few months old, I’m sure with some age this will become incredible.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 17, 2013 Batch 4 (2013), consumed pretty fresh -- the way Parabola should be enjoyed. Big roasty malts, coffee, bittersweet chocolate, toffee candy, charcoal aroma. Deep and black appearance, yet somehow tastes the same too. Booze presence cannot be understated, as it’s a vital component of this brew. All components of the aroma are here but even more concentrated. Viscous body, hearty and delicious. One of the best shelf beers out there.
