Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2012 I’m usually pretty skeptical about beers that receive as much hype as this one has. That said, this beer is phenomenal. Pours solid black with a thin brown head. Aroma of wood, molasses, maduro tobacco, chocolate, some soy, leather, fig and date. Taste has lots of sweetness but also a sharp earthy bitterness, lots of burnt ashy malt flavor, alcohol is fairly noticeable but not too hot.

22 oz bomber cracked with Mark. Pours a serious black with a small brown head. Nice nose of bourbon, sweet chocolate, toffee and burnt malts. Flavor is huge - brown sugar, vanilla, loads of bourbon. Some heat and caramel on the finish. Oily body with a bitter aftertaste.. 2011 version, so could use some age to mellow a bit

Poured from a bottle. Pours a nice and dark with loads of head and lacing. Bourbon on the nose, but so smooth to taste. Chocolate, licorice, and bourbon on the taste. Some nice warming heat on the way down.

Tap at Papago. Thick black pour with a dense creamy head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, toasted marshmallows, wood, fruit and coffee. All of this and more comes out in the flavor. Really good stuff!

Tap, Black Squirrel. Darker tan head; completely dense black body. Prunes, dark choclate, roasty, and a good deal of malty sweetness in the aroma. Bitter roasted malt in the flavor at first, bittersweet chocolate, bit of ash and sweetness...not catching any boozy notes. Very thick body, lush, but even with some bubblier carbonation. Dense, but very good.

Pours a pure black color. Has a little dark caramel colored head. Aroma is big time bourbon, oak, malts, chocolate, vanilla, and nuts. Taste is full bodied. Flavor consists of the following: Chocolate, booze, bark, resin, oak, bourbon, and some roastiness. Leaves a chocolate malt finish. Very impressive.

Was really excited about this beer when I found it. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, coffee, oak. Bourbon wasn’t over powering and this was a really easy beer to sit back and sip. Good flavor, well balanced and very well done.

Damn stoked to find this for less than $14 in Medford. Pours black as night with a lovely tanned head on top. Aroma has a beautiful blast of vanilla’d oak, hints of bourbon, chocolate malts, and light hints at roasted coffee. Flavors bring out a lot of the nose, especially with the hints at coffee, vanilla’d oak, and chocolate malts. The bourbon kicks in more towards the finish, and is pleasantly blended well with all the other flavors. Truly appreciate a beer of this nature these days that doesn’t over do it, but blends it well (not saying I don’t mind a beer that overdoes it either hehe). Danksauce right here folks.

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and 8 ozs. served to a snifter with a darkest brown color, brownish tan cream & bubbles head foam, and streaks and spots of clingy lacing. The aroma presented rich, roasty malt, baker’s chocolate, woodiness, caramel, with hints of aromatic and sweet pipe tobacco. The flavor added strong hop bitterness, maybe some mocha notes, big bourbon with compatible warmth, and a dry & bitter finish that evoked some astringency. The body was full, and the texture was a tad syrupy. Still an impressive brew to sip and enjoy.
