COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.
An extension of Quercus Alba óthe Firestone Walker Barrel aged program. Russian Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels.

Bottle from bier-deluxe.de. Vintage 2013. Dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, milk chocolate, tobacco. Taste, roasted malt, caramel, nuts, bourbon, dark fruits, vanilla, wood. Sweet caramel alcoholic finish. Little bit too much on sweet side, but donít understand me wrong, still highly enjoyable beer.

Bottle by Cuso, many thanks! Great spicy aroma for me that comes from the tobacco aroma. It reminds a lot of cigars and I like that. No so bitter and dark chocolate like like other RISs. Dark chocolate, roasted malt, warming alcohol. Overall excellent!

New review: 05APR12 Vintage 2011, No. 002 Pours black with some tann on mocha foam that falls to a broken sheet in a couple minutes. Nose is complex - honey, molasses, marshmallow, bourbon, vanilla and some black cherry. Flavor is sweet with toasted and roasted malts, molasses, dates, raisin, bourbon, oak, vanilla and hints of graham. Body is a little thin for the style initially with higher carb than Iíd prefer, and a semi slick finish that resonates longer than Iíd anticipated. This beer was better this time around than previous excursions. I like the nose here, and I rarely am dissappointed with a FW nose. 3.5/4.5/4/3.5/4 Initial review on 11JUN11 Vintage 2011, Batch 2 A: Pours a black as night beer with ruby and honey hues as light passes thru. Less than single finger of head over the coarse of the pour. Spotty lacing. Scattered light tan patches on surface. S: Honey, vanilla, molasses, fig. The other day when I had this, it didnít smell nearly as nice. This one is lively with layers of malt, oak, wood, charred marshmallow, black cherries. T: Dark chocolate, bing cherry, medium toast oak, hints of alcohol, vanilla. This is much different now than several days ago, I was not impressed then - now: yes. Resonating finish with molasses, warmth, raisin and cherry. Nice oaky flavor carries through the entire palate and into the finish well. Some maduro feeling to this flavor profile, particularly on the finish. M: Medium body for the style with moderately high carbonation on the style IMO. Semi dry finish mends the former two notes and it seems this beer could use a little viscosity to help weave the beer. O: This is certainly a sipping beer, and an excellent one at that. Iím glad I hopped across the street for a beer to drink in this hotel before hitting the airport. As noted above this beer has excellent olfactory and palate play, but I think the mouthfeel takes away from the excellence of the beer. I also think this beer has such dominent wood character, that this would benefit from a year or two laying down to help it all come together. Granted, I think the malts would eventually turn this one really, really sweet, so it could be a delicate balance. Great beer for an oily, slow-burning, dark cigar. Or some pipe tobacco. Mostly would want the smoke in the air, not to actually take in as it would interfere rather than compliment the beer. 4/4.5/4/3/4 - 4.0 Serving type: bottle 04-05-2012

Tap at Baileys Taproom, Portland. Colour is black with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Dark chocolate, sweetness, hints of coffee, bourbon and roasted malts. Nice but too sweet for me and not fan of these bourbon imps.

2011 22oz bottle thanks to WanderinCelt87, shared with my wife to celebrate her birthday, pours pitch black with a diminishing light brown head, a little bit of it lingers around for a while, the aroma pretty much punches you in the face with bourbon and chocolate, even with it being nearly 3 years old, the flavor has a ton of dark chocolate with some of the bourbon and vanilla notes showing as well, a little bit of burnt tobacco in the finish, the 12.5% isnít really hidden all that well, really warms up the belly, itís good, but just doesnít completely blow me away like I was hoping for.
