5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
I had the honor of experiencing this brew on tap at the New England Tap House Grill in Hooksett NH on 5/28/14. This was one of those ultra-surprising unexpected finds on their(or anyone’s) rotating beer list.
The beer was poured into a snifter glass and the first glance offered up one dark beauty of a beer. Mostly black with hints of brown on the edge when hit by the right lighting. No head to speak of just a slight mocha ring around the top and virtually no lacing as well. Smells of, well, bourbon. Some vanilla, aged oak, dark coffee, and some espresso also join in with the abundance of bourbon. Taste is great with the hints of the above mentioned with bourbon being the most pronounced flavor for me. Very well done mouthfeel that coats the palate and is very smooth. I found Parabola to be moderately sweet and extremely easy to drink, but a sipper with that high abv. I really enjoyed this aged stout tremendously and it was amazing to get a hold of this masterpiece . Highly recommended!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Number 50 impy stout and 300 total rates! Bottle, opaque black, good walnut colored head, decent lace. Aroma plums, cherries, figs, vanilla, toasted barley, bourbon, anise, molases. Taste is molases, anise, plums, oak, vanilla, cherries, milk chocolate, little sweet, palate is thick and chewy, carbonation very subdued, finish is dry, and a little hot. This is 2014 vintage, and I feel like it could use another 6-12 mo. cellar. Still, this is exceptional.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[Bottle (650ml). Reserve Series No. 001] Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small diminishing frothy light-brown head. Aroma of brown sugar, leafy hops, alcohol, chocolate, wood and maple syrup. Flavour of roasted malt, leafy hops, alcohol, wood and brown sugar. Medium bodied, syrupy mouthfeel. At least a year old and still pretty boozy, still very good though.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from bier.de, 2014 vintage. Pours clear black with an thin white head. Smells like bourbon and oak and vanilla and chocolate and lots of good stuff. Light to medium carbonation, oily but ever so slightly thin compared to the big oaty beasts of the imperial stout world. Rich dark roast, milk chocolate, caamel, treacle, refined sugar, loads of vanilla and oak char. Sweet and smooth on the palate, slick and oily on the tongue. Finishes long and roasty. Smooth enough to make every sip a pleasure and yet enough heat to remind you that you’re drinking a 13% imperial stout that has enjoyed the benefit of plenty of barrel time. You can probably count the number of BA imperial stouts that are better than this on a single hand.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2014. A worthy 100th rating. Pours "light" blackwith lasting tan head. Aroma of chocolate tobacco vanilla and mild bourbon. taste of chocolate forward followed by light vanilla cocoa powder and tobacco. Thick velvety mouth feel. The flavors are a little harsh at this point, would benefit significantly with age. Overall excellent Imperial Stout

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2015 Aroma of licorice, bourbon, booze, and booze. Super boozy and very light mouthfeel. Feels like a darker barley wine, quite dry, very very light mouthfeel, some vanilla, loaded with coconut, the flavours don’t integrate very well and not very much of a stout, more like a Barley wine with some darker malts, too dry, too light mouthfeel, and probably the booziest beers I’ve had, even though it was 2012 vintage.
