Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.

Bottle, bottled on 3/14/12. Poured into a chalice. This beer pours a tinge lighter than black. An inch worth of mocha head rests atop. Light lace left behind. The nose is sweet with vanilla, maple, gingerbread, chocolate, oak. The bourbon isn’t as strong in the nose as I’d expected. Moderate mouthfeel, with decent carbonation presence. Slight oily feel on the back end, but drinks nicely. Chocolate, coffee, vanilla. Again, the bourbon is underplayed, but its subtlety is what I like about this. Rounds out a nice roasted brew, giving a welcome sweet balance. I usually like to split my bombers with someone, but this one was a treat to drink on my own. Loved it.

Aroma of licorice, bourbon, booze, and booze. Super boozy and very light mouthfeel. Feels like a darker barley wine, quite dry, very very light mouthfeel, some vanilla, loaded with coconut, the flavours don’t integrate very well and not very much of a stout, more like a Barley wine with some darker malts, too dry, too light mouthfeel, and one of the booziest beers I’ve had.

Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, grilled cherry, tobacco, raw cacao, toasted coconut, freshly baked macaroons, subtle vanilla, subtle booze, subtle char. Black, mostly lasting chocolate ice cream-colored head. Dry, deep, super complex, flavor profile mirroring the array of aromatics, earthy, chocolatey, redolent of cooked and dried cherries and berries. Full bodied, quite smooth especially considering the ABV, deep, a sipping beer for sure, possibly the greatest I’ve had to date.

Bottle from a trade. Many thanks Wyatt! Dark brown/black colour, brown foam. Soft carbonation. Complex aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and caramel. Medium sweet, light bitter. Well balanced. Good Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout.

I'm not well versed in the art of beer reviews so I'm not going to make up a bunch of stuff. I will say that it is a hearty beer that does not go too strong on the bourbon flavor.

Flavours of chocolate, marshmellow, marzipan, bourbon, roast, light alcohol burn, dark chocolate, bitter, mocha, some wood, some vanilla, some clay. Aftertaste of dark chocolate, mocha, roast, some bourbon and wood notes. Low carbo, silky mouthfeel, fuller bodied and a light sticky texture. Nice stuff!

On tap. Pour is close to black with a very thin white head. Aroma and flavor of dark chocolate, peat, oak, tobacco, and herbal hops. Finish is slightly bitter with the booze coming through. Solid.

2014 vinatge, bottle. Pours a pitch black, fairly opaque with a nice bubbly mocha colored head that breaks into a nice ring around the glass with some spotty lacing. Nose is loaded with bourbon, wet oak, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is silky smooth with the chocolate and coffee dancing around the palate early before moving into a bittering tobacco/dark chocolate/char notes. The coffee lingers into the vanilla, oak and the bourbon finishes them all off nicely! Great beer!
