On tap at the 2007 GABF: Pours an oily opaque with a nice, dense, frothy light brown head. Aroma of sweet, rich dark chocolate, caramel, dates and oaky bourbon complexity. Body is viscous and sweet with creamy dark chocolate and mild brown sugar flavors balanced with a lot of good bourbon character and some warmth toward an otherwise smooth finish. A real nice beer and one of my favorites at the fest.

Aged in Bourbon and served at Bailey’s Taproom 1 Year Anniversary--Poured a deep dark black-brown with a frothy thin beige head. Complex nose and floavor profile of vanilla, dark fruits, raisins, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, bitter chocolate and bourbon oak. Delicious!

Draft. Dark Lord Day 2008. Pitch black color. Integrated aromas of dark chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla, bourbon and coconut. Flavor is amazingly complex, with similar notes in the flavor as in the aroma. This one really shows Firestone Walkers great barrel aging ability and gave Oak Aged Dark Lord a run for its money.

On cask at PP Real Ale Festival. Pours dark brown black with a thin, creamy, light brown head. Smells of bourbon, wood and sweet and sour maltiness. Tastes malty sour, slight vanilla and bourbon flavors. Full body, good carbonation.

On cask, sampled at the Real Ale Festival at Pizza Port Carlsbad on 6/13. My first sampler of the afternoon. Served on cask, super rich and creamy. Black color with a frothy maroon head and thick legs that coat the glass edges. Picture-perfect appearance. Huge bourbon nose with oak wood, syrupy molasses and vanilla extract. The flavor is packed with a huge oak barrel character, bourbon, leather, roasted malt, brown sugar oatmeal and a barbecue smoke tone. Extremely viscous, milkshake body. Very warming alcohol finish that knocks you in the head. Almost over the top, but damn tasty.

Tasted at the REal Ale fest. Black with a creamy brown head. Sweet milk chocolate aroma. Mildly bitter chocolate taste, syrupy palate, robust coffee flavors, slight grain, and bourbon tastes evident.
