COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.
An extension of Quercus Alba —the Firestone Walker Barrel aged program. Russian Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels.

Bottle: Dark brown pour with a finger of tan head. Aroma is mostly the bourbon barrel with light bittersweetness and some roast. Flavor is cocoa, roast, bittersweet, florals, and bourbon barrel. Credit is due here to the overall amount and balance of the barrel aging. Enough of the barrel aging is present, yet not overwhelming on the beer itself.

Pours black with ruby highlights and no head. Very sweet bourbon aromas with a bit of oak. Sweet and syrupy up front but immediately mellows into rich bitter chocolate and whisky. Ends with an espresso chocolate finish. Low carbonation. A wonderfully complex beer.

65 cl bottle. 2011 vintage. Bottle No 58573. BBE 30.04.2014.
Pours pitch black color with a medium sized beige head. Aroma has dark roasted malts, faint hop notes, sweetish caramel, some dry ashy cocoa, dark chocolate and bourbon. Some vanilla can be found also.
Bursting with different flavors; dark roasted malts, some soy, coffee notes, salty licorice, vanilla, faint tobacco, syrup, some molasses and dark chocolate. A bit sticky and sweet palate, mild bitter and lingering chocolaty finish. Some reminiscents to Dechutes Abyss. Very heavy and complex brew with lots of nice nuances. A s l o w drinking beer. Somehow managed to hit my sweet spot. Top notch. Probably on my top 10.

65 cl bottle vintage 2011 @ home, BBE 30.04.2014(German label)
Bottle number 58573, front label says 12,5% and back label 13%.
Aroma is sweet and feels sticky. It has cocoa, semi‐dark chocolate, some licorice and vanilla. Flavour is sweet with cocoa, whiskey notes, salty licorice and some vanilla. Finishes with stinging whiskey and peat. Thick and sticky palate. Nice, the sweetness that grows towards the end of the glass almost ruins the show though. Bourbon aged Deschutess Abyss would perhaps taste like this if it existed.

2011 bomber pours a dark brown/black with a thin reddish tan head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, dark fruits, oak, and bourbon. Something in the aroma also reminds me of maple syrup and waffles. Taste of sweet chocolate, molasses, vanilla and oak, with undertones of bourbon and finishing with tobacco and leather. All together well balanced and smooth.

Location: Draft at Pony HK, 5/15/13, #3001: I’ll start off the quest for 4k with a big one.

Aroma: It has a nose of dark malts and bourbon, with some chocolate, coffee, roast, and wood
Appearance: This one has a black colored pour with a brown head that leaves heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same as the nose, with heavy malty and bourbon flavors
Palate: The body is full, it has a thich feel, and quite a bit of boozy heat on the mouth
Overall Impression: First off, we were very excited when the bell rang and this got added to the draft list! This beer is an absolute beast. It’s big and boozy, and it is also well made. This is clearly a sipper, and clearly something I don’t need a ton of in one sitting, but Firestone does a very nice job with barrel ageing beers.

650 ml bottle from Wilbur’s, 2013 version, 13%. Black pour with small brown head and patchy lacing. The aroma is rich with roasted malts, dark chocolate, burnt wood and light bourbon. Similar flavor with some vanilla, light coffee and faint dark fruits. It hides the alcohol rather well. Full body with a soft and smooth velvety feel. An excellent sipper and a truly incredible beer.

2011 22oz bomber, drank in late May 2013. Thick brown black body, opaque. Respectable rusty beige head sticks around for awhile. Big sweet oak and chocolate aroma. A truly great Imperial Stout, massive and sugary, but refined and quite enjoyable. Lots of depth..deep bourbon caramel oak vanilla notes. World Class, this is really well done.

Oily black. Small tan bubbling. Smells like oak an alcohol. Tastes like cocoa, toffee, vanilla, oak, toasty dark malts and alcohol. Pretty damn good but the alchyness is a little offputting. The flavor is really good though.

On tap at Churchkey during Savour week. Very well balanced, low carbonation beer. Subtle flavours balance the bourbon at warmer temps

Bottle @CBC13. Pitch black with small tan head. Aroma intense; roastiness, coffee, bourbon, tobacco, dark chocolate and tar. Taste is very rich and full, same notes as aroma plus some plums and berries, finish is tarry and roasted.
