3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2012 vintage. 22oz. bottle served in a snifter. Poured a deep brown/black with a thin tan head. Chocolate, vanilla and a little alcohol in the aroma. Full bodied and rich. More chocolate and roasted barley in the flavor. I found this to be a little hot. Really long dry malty finish. I expected more barrel, but it was nicely balanced. Would have benefited from some age.

Astounding beer. Big bourbon in the nose. Hides the alcohol very well; mouthfeel is medium-full, with loads of vanilla, oak and bourbon. The malts are moderated by the bourbon and the vanilla extremely well. A masterpiece of balance.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured an opaque, dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of oak. The taste was of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and a medium bitter finish more from the roast than hops. Very good.

22oz pour into crooked stave snifter. Pours surprisingly thin with a very thin, quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma is very bourbon forward with a hint if chocolate, malt and coffee follow up. Taste is booze forward with taste that follows aroma. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel. Great beer, but top ten? Meh

On tap @ Baileyís Taproom, Portland, Sixth Anniversary Barrel Aged Fest. Pours black with almost no head at all. Aroma is roasted malts, oak and bourbon, as well as vanilla, liquorice and lots of dark fruits. Full creamy body with no carbonation. Flavour is tremendous, and with no evidence of the rather high ABV. Sweet burned malts with tobacco and vanilla, cocoa and chocolate, as well as coffee and molasses, with a nice long chocolatey bourbon finish. Absolutely fantastic!

ok.. where do i need to start with this. shared a bottle with 2 close friends. this was just amazing. by far the best beer i ever had. poured pitch black with a tan caramel coloured head. smell of bourbon, more bourbon and... some more bourbon. vanilla notes. the taste is just so great. first mouthfeel is like there is a verry small hint of coconut, coffee, raisins, caramel, some roasty chocolate, lot of bourbon. but not overwelming. and the mouthfeel on this beer is just so awesome! itís so smooth and perfectly balanced. I would love to sip this beer every day!
