2014 vintage bomber poured into proprietor’s glass. Poured dark black with a minimal head. Knock your socks off bourdon and dark chocolate aromas. I mean wow, incredible. Incredible dark coffee and chocolate taste, strongly accompanied by the bourbon. What an incredible beer. Wish I had the pleasure of this wonderful brew every night.

Its been a long time since I’ve had it. Pour from a bottle is a nice opaque black with a sweet malty aroma. Taste is coffee with a hint of chocolate. Leaves a smooth rich after taste.

Been in the cellar for 2 years? Guess I won’t need to buy beer at the game. Thick brown head on dark liquid. Big boozy scent; booze, bourbon aroma that clears the sinuses and intoxicates the mind. Goose bumps, chocolate, bourbon, molasses and ambrosia.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma carries a bourbony boozy vanilla, caramel, and coconut character. Deep black color. Flavors are intense with charred wood, booze (vanilla, caramel, and cocnut) dominating. Outstanding beer.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Got in a trade with cyde. 22 ounce bottle into snifter; 2013 vintage, bottled on 3/18/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, toffee, oak, bourbon, tobacco, light char, and roast/oak earthiness; with some light alcohol/booze. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and oak barrel notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, toffee, bourbon, oak, tobacco, light char, and roast/oaky earthiness. Fair amount of roast/oak bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, toffee, bourbon, oak, tobacco, light char, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt and oak barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. A very slight oak astringency was present but not detrimental. Light-medium carbonation an full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and fairly slick mouthfeel that is fantastic. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible barrel aged imperial stout. All around outstanding complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. An insanely delicious offering as I expected.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of dark caramel, brown sugar syrup, and a bit of dark fruit. Flavors are similar and sweet with addition bourbon and oak notes. Very warm finish. Reminds me of a barley wine.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught at Mikkeller, black sensation. Smell of vanilla and some alcohol. Pours black with a small beige head. Taste is full and nice and holds some vanilla and chocolates. Palate is oily yet quiet drinkable. Overall a good beer, easy to drink though it can be described as a big beer.

Bomber. 14%. 2014 vintage. Courtesy of olio. Thanks so much Toni! Enjoyed at the ISKTR 2014.
Black colour with a tiny tan head.
Sweetness, malt, mild hops, mild bitterness, tobacco bitterness and mild whiskey notes in the aroma. Delicious!
The flavour is... heavenly... Bitterness, roasted malt, sweetness, vanilla, hops and chocolate. Delicious!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(on tap @ Mikkeller) Pours black with no head (and way too cold). The initial impression from the aroma is that it’s like Bourbon County Stout 2012 with some bourbon/coconut/vanilla notes. Upon warming further complexity is revealed notably among which are sherry, prunes, oak barrel finally culminating in a licorice note. Oily texture, full body, soft carbonation and an intensely warming and rather boozy finish. Flavour has notes of sherry, raisins and booze. It’s a bit too boozy for my taste especially when drunk from a small and narrow sampler-like glass as is used in Mikkeller Bar. A small amount served in a big snifter or burgundy glass be fun to toss around sitting in a comfy chair in front of a fireplace and observe how the aroma develops.
