UPDATED: FEB 5, 2014 Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Completely black, inky pour with a light-tan head that settles quickly to a thin collar. Aroma is mild, milky cocoa, dry wheat that hints towards rye (must be the buckwheat), light plums, a small hint of anise, faint maple, & a finishing touch of vanilla. Nice underlying sweetness, almost milky but still a decent roast. Taste is sharp cocoa, milky & only slightly bittersweet with some dry buckwheat & rye, a hint of boozy oak, light vanilla, & just a touch of plum & fig fruitiness. Nice voluptuous body, pretty nice stuff. Dry buckwheat & rye-like aftertaste. More maple syrupy & bourbon as the beer warms up.

Bottle, batch 1. Bottled 17 May 2013, consumed 26 Sept 2014. Thanks, Chris! Pours jet black with a dense, creamy, dark brown head with excellent retention and lacing. The nose is awesome. Rich, dense and layered, there’s dark chocolate, dark wheat bread, buckwheat honey, and a beautiful tequila note, rich with its agave character. Booze is shockingly well hidden. Toasted bread, toasted agave, brown sugar, mild toffee, some earth, a touch of cinnamon. Really good. The palate opens big, full and with a blend of booze and sweetness. Dark brown sugar, toffee, dark chocolate, flavors of German fitness bread and a mild Kahlua note are present. The mid palate is where the tequila character really comes out. Toasted agave, mild vanilla, plenty of tequila flavor. A long, mildly biker, moderately roasty finish with a blend of tequila, caramel, buckwheat honey and dark chocolate are present. Immaculate palate. Exceptional stuff.

22oz bottle. Poured a dark brown, almost black color with a smaller sized off white head. I would say the tequila on more the subtle side and not in your face - which worked nicely. Wood, roast, vanilla and some dark fruits with a lighter alcohol finish (but not 13+%).

Flaska (nr 1 !? hur coolt är inte det?). Känns att det är en härlig och bra öl i grunden. Men tequilafatet har inte gjort den bättre.

Bomber shared by solidfunk at the DC Summer Saison & Sour Tasting, 7/12/14. Pours a dark brown color with a thin head that quickly fades. Aroma of roast, chocolate, buckwheat, bourbon, vanilla, agave in the finish. The taste is bourbon, tequila, chocolate, roast, vanilla, mild boozy finish. Medium bodied, slightly hot. Solid beer.

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this beer last year. Been waiting to crack it and the wait was well worth it. Black pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate, oak and tequila. The flavor is more complex. I get some nice tequila notes up front as well as some smoked malt, ash, heavily roasted malt, oak and cream. There are also some bourbon notes (mainly maple and vanilla) that really complement everything else. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice beer. Glad I got to try it.

Almost black pour with a moderate brown head. Chocolate, syrup, black coffee, bourbon, vanilla, and hints of tequila. Spicy and lively at first, sweet throughout, and pronounced dry bitterness in the back. Full-bodied but lighter in viscosity. Very long bitter finish

Bottle. Aroma is strong cocoa and chocolate. Dark brown pour with a light brown to off white head. Taste is chocolate and light roast. A very light, pleasant tartness behind the malt; very light though. A smooth alcohol warming. Not sure I can pick out the buckwheat, agave syrup or barrel character individually, but I like the beer.
