UPDATED: FEB 5, 2014 Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Completely black, inky pour with a light-tan head that settles quickly to a thin collar. Aroma is mild, milky cocoa, dry wheat that hints towards rye (must be the buckwheat), light plums, a small hint of anise, faint maple, & a finishing touch of vanilla. Nice underlying sweetness, almost milky but still a decent roast. Taste is sharp cocoa, milky & only slightly bittersweet with some dry buckwheat & rye, a hint of boozy oak, light vanilla, & just a touch of plum & fig fruitiness. Nice voluptuous body, pretty nice stuff. Dry buckwheat & rye-like aftertaste. More maple syrupy & bourbon as the beer warms up.

Very dark brown, tan head. Barrel is heavy, bit of alc. Tequila there but not too strong. Vanilla is mixed with choc in the flavour. Good.

Bottle at CapFlu’s Blomster Bash
Dark color, close to black. The aroma is chocolatey, a hint of tequila. Full bodied; rich chocolate flavor with a good alcohol punch; hint of barrel, tobacco, liquorice.
Excellent.

Little head with a deep brown body. Nose of molasses and soya sauce. Hot alcohol, brown sugar and coffee grits. Very sweet and smoked. Nice.

Bottle - Sweet chocolate with a nice sugary note. Jet black with almost no head. Nice chocolate syrupy notes, light barrel notes and a sweetness that I assume is from the agave. I don’t get the tequila, which would have been nice.

Tap at Monk’s, probably 10 years old. Sepia with thin tan ring. Woody marshmallow nose, sweet and inky, light Oreo cookie. Salty soy up front, sugary mid with oats and heavy cardboard oxidation through the barky, dead finish. Slick and full, finish shows nothing but cardboard.

Over the top - Nose, palate, flavor. Auburn in color, maple syrup. Tequila very evident across the board. Thick mouth feel, hot alcohol and malt finish. Not very balanced, but smooth. Nose of light cocoa, dark chocolate, figs and raisons.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some chocolate, light oak and vanilla, some hints of alcohol, and some light tequila and agave. Flavor the same with a great blend of the imperial stout and the barrels with some buckwheat and agave on the finish. Thick texture. A really good imperial stout.

A sample pour at Dark Lord Day 2014. Poured black with a tan head.. Nose of ripe fruit and chocolate. Bold in body. The flavor is just flat out rich and show a lot of rope fruit, some coffee, ands a lot of chocolate. Bourbon in the finish but not too much .A simply delicious beer

Sampled at DLD 2014. It poured a pitch black color with a small tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, vanilla, oak, alcohol, chocolate, coconut and a hint of coffee. The taste was of vanilla, oak, roasted and coconut. Very Nice. Thanks Jarpo.
