Appearance: Pours brown with a bubbly tan ring.

Aroma: Banana, chocolate, juicy fruit. Taste. Chocolate, dark bread, banana burnt roast, oak. Mouthfeel: Full bodied modest carbonation. Overall: Very interesting and complex. Between the buckwheat and the tequila fruitiness, its one of the most bizarre strong stouts Iíve ever had, and I mean that in a fun way.

Pitch black and opaque wih a two finger, frothy mocha head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Great retention for the style with streaks of soapy lacing coating the glass on the way down. Inviting nose with a really strong barrel character thatís nicely integrated into whatever the base beer is. Plenty of damp oak, spicy bourbon, vanilla and coconut countered by sweet and roasted dark malt notes. Subtle agave/tequila presence but itís overpowered by the bourbon and oak notes. Wouldnít have guessed it was in there if I didnít know. Spicy bourbon and vanilla bean flavor followed by gourmet roast, dark chocolate and sweeter, dessert-like bakers chocolate sweetness. Smells great, I just wish that the tequila/agave was stronger/more noticeable in the aroma. Thick and viscous full body with a strong boozy barrel presence that gives off a lot of heat and spicy bourbon flavor that lingers over the malt backbone into a sweet, slightly dry and hot finish. Plenty of warmth in the chest. Agave syrup and tequilla stands out here more than in the nose with a subtle citrus/honey character but again itís overshadowed by the oak and spicy bourbon. Subtle toothpick/dry oak flavor with some vanilla, coconut and burnt sugar. Huge spicy bourbon flavor countered by a nice tequila presence that starts to stand out as it warms. Thankfully, the prominent barrel notes donít obliterate the malt flavors with plenty of roasted espresso bean, oatmeal and bittersweet dark chocolate. A little bit of dark fruit in there as well with some fig, plum and raisin. More tequila/agave than in the nose but the flavor profile isnít quite as complex. Needs some more malt sweetness and itís a bit too hot/boozy at this point for my preference. It burns a bit going down and you can feel all 13+%! This becomes more tolerable as it warms and the palate adjusts but it seems like it needs some time to mellow out.

2013 22oz. Thanks to tyrus for sharing. Never went after this as Iím not at all a tequila fan, and the tequila notes really stuck out on fresh 16. This was a different story. I wouldnít have guessed this was tequila beer. It was more of a perfectly balanced bourbon stout. Oak and vanilla. Smooth spirit. Chewy toasty body. There was a bit of sweet tequila agave on the back end but nothing harsh. Really enjoyable.

Bottle at all killer no filler. Aroma is vanilla, cocoa and slight heat. Taste is cocoa, slight vanilla, a touch of tequila (not overpowering), a hint of cinnamon and a touch of roast coffee.

Bottle. Dark pour with tan head. Roasted, tequila, agave and dark malt aromas. Sweet malt, roasted, chocolate, tequila, dark toned flavors. Smooth, age may have done this well.

Iíd had a sample of this once before, but got to split up a bottle thanks to Marcus! As w most FW barreled beers...fantastic nose and flavor. Very decadent. Sweet leaning but the tequila cuts through it as does the dark roast. Nice vanilla bourbon character and a super smooth body. Thanks Marcus.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2015 Bottle at apex. Pours a cloudy brown color with a small whisp of head. Huge nose of Tequila and toffee. Fresh huge citrus, lively malty toffee, caramel, huge fruit beer. Awesome. We split the bottle with some cool folks from Nevada. The overall flavor is robusty fruity barrels with huge sweet malty bases of toffee, chocolate and molasses. Damn awesome.

Bottle.Deep black but thin-looking. A frothy layer of tan, one finger, recedes after a minute or so. Sweet dark cherries, roast, dark chocolate, funky tequila, big oaky vanilla and toasted coconut in the nose, in that order. Sweet, funky aroma. PHENOMENAL flavor. Smooth roasty milk chocolate, oats, cocoa nibs, marshmallow, lactose, vanilla, toffee, wheat. Damn. Fairly thin for its strength; a bit watery, with throat-warming alcohol and gentle touches of carbonation. This just might be my favorite barrel-aged Firestone beer.

Bomber: Shared by Benzai: Served in a Duvel glass: Black beer with a light brown head. Aromas of roast, poop, chalk, tar, cacoa, alcohol, raisin, liquorice... Strange but ok aroma... Flavours of spice/alcohol, roast, liquorice, wood roast, some tequila, sharp/stingy, less sweet soy, chalk, cacoa... Itís ok but still tastes a bit young... Aftertaste is a mix of wood roast, some fruit tones, bitters, chocolate with a sprinkle of tequila. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, full bodied.

Bottle @ home shared with Countbeer. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, bourbon, raisins, lightly vanilla, chocolate, sweet overripe dark fruits. Taste malts, lightly vanilla, bourbon, tequila comes through a little while I didnít get that in the aroma, alcohol, bitter, slightly roasted malts. Medium body, medium carbonation. Lovely beer, but the flavor isnít on the same level as the aroma.
