Tap @ Apex... Poured a hazy, reddish/orange with a moderate, light khaki head. Nose had acidity with mild funk and oak. Nice sourness, not overly tart which was excellent. Some fruitiness, earthiness, wine-like vinous tones, grapes, light cherries. Hints of wood and a light puckering sourness in the finish.

Clear golden orange with almost no head. Pleasant sour green apple aroma and taste with an overly tart vinegar finish. Too much sour not enough balance.

On tap (listed at 11% info sent: a blend of big and little opal, down to 8%, aged in french oak vigonger barrels with bugs. enough ollaliberry added to create a lab tested alcohol of 11% -According to the brewer Matt B.) Pours with a hazed red body and no head. Aromas are spicy, red wine, french oak, huge berry notes, caramel, vanilla, tobacco, bright, light booze, burgundy, awesome! Flavors are bright and acidic, with funk, wood, light diaper, some alcohol, vegital berry and tannic oak in the finish. Dry and a bit thin. Low carbonation and a bit of astringent berry (and tannins) in the finish. Really well hidden ABV. Looking forward to the future (apparently a bright future) of FW sours! A very tasty start!
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Thorpe429 (3823) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - NOV 27, 2010
Had on tap at the Tasting Room Saturday August 8, 2009. Served in a small snifter. The fruit element is achieved through the use of olallieberries (pronounced oh-la-leh), which the bartender told me are grown along the Central Coast and are made of a cross of loganberries and youngberries.
A: A slightly hazy ruby-maroon color with a low-rising head that was slightly off white.
S: While I’ve never tasted an olallieberry, the nose immediately let me know what I would be tasting. The berry scent produced a nice nose, especially when combined with the sour notes, which were definitely prevalent, but not in a way that completely overpowered the fruit.
T: Sweet, acidic, slightly tart. Some slight earthy undertones. There is an undercurrent of berry taste throughout, with a clear overlay of sour and acidic notes. Being the first reviewer, I wish I had more sour experience to be able to better explain all that this lambic had going on.
M: Fairly light-bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Slightly mouth puckering, but nothing in the extreme.
D: Quite drinkable. A thoroughly enjoyable experience all around. Great tasting menu and the bartender was very friendly.
Serving type: on-tap

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 IrishBoy (3337) - Bakersfield, California, USA - NOV 7, 2010
Draft at the brewery at the Firestone 14 Release Party. I assume this is the beer it was listed as Firestone Walker Lambic and was said by the brewer to have been in barrels two years and was listed as 5% ABV on the sign on the table. Nose was very oaky with lots of berry notes, fruitiness, tartness, yeast, and a little funk. Cloudy amber with a small beige head. Flavor was nicely tart with berries, light woodiness, and some slight horseblanket. First sour I have had from Firestone and quite good; would love to see it bottled.

Tap at Toronado 22nd Anniversary. Reddish color with a small off-white/pinkish head. Aroma is sour strawberry (not sure what ollalieberry is like), some funk. Flavor is tart strawberries/berries and wood. Fairly dry and crisp on the palate. Pretty good but not that impressive overall.

Draft at the brewery in Paso Robles. Dark reddish pour with very little head. Aroma is lightly tart fruit / berries and some wood. Flavor was the same, a little sour, not much funk... fruity with a crisp finish. Not sure if this might be categorized as a sour beer, but the name made me think Lambic. This is the first sour beer I have ever tasted from Firestone; hopefully there are more to come.
