COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’ve patiently waited for two years to offer you this exquisite ale! Sour Opal retraces its roots to the lambic cellars of the town of Brussels and the Senne River valley, in Belgium. This American “Gueuze” represents a spectrum of flavors from a traditional barrel aged sour ale, complete with aromas of aged cheese and a distinct earthy mustiness that can only be found in a well cellared barrel aged sour. The complexity and balanced flavors of Sour Opal can be attributed first to the crisp assertive tannic acidity of the Viognier barrels. Oak-derived flavors and aromas mingle with guava, passion fruit, pineapple and tart cherry notes. This beer rounds out with a crisp clean and quenching acidity as well as a mild grape fruitiness that is intensified by a higher carbonation level.

An amazing sour wild ale with oak and grape skins coming through a nice refreshing pucker. pours brown nice head, clear. aroma is sour vinegar, oak, grape, with a bit of bread. taste is puckering and refreshing, palate is thin and not to clingy to you want more. overall and amazing beer.

On tap for the Boulders on Broadway festival 2014, hazy orange pour, small white head. White wine aroma with some tart fruity notes. A nice and tart sour flavor and white wine notes. Phenomenal!!

On draft at FW Barrel Works. Simply put, the best sour I’ve had to date. Extremely fresh grape tartness explodes on the scene with a great mild citrus verbena aroma. I’m still in shock over the perfection in this brew!

Slightly hazy yellow pour with a big thick white head at Barrelworks. Very nice hints of lemon and funk in the nose. Great taste - lots of flavors flying around, complex sourness, a touch of barnyard, finishing with sweet lemon and some other juicy fruits that I can’t put my finger on. Very well done.

Cloudy yellow, white head. Man this is badass. Sour, white wine notes, perfect amount of wood imparted. Lemony goodness with a bit of yogurt. Its quite sour but soooo drinkable. YES!

Tap at FW Barrelworks. Pours a hazy orange color with minimal head. Amazing bouquet of lemon zest, acid, citrus, cut grass, and excellent 3F-like funk. The palate is juicy and drying at the same time, with an intense mix of orange-lemon-lime flavors, acid, and Sour Patch Kid. Looking at earlier reviews, I feel that this beer must have been released too young at the time or has been tweaked, because it is definitely one of the best American-made oak aged sours.

(En fût chez Firestone Walker Barrelworks): Un liquide très complexe avec ses notes mentholées, sa poussière, sa rusticité, son côté vineux franc et croustillant et son volet acétique. Certains aspects rappellent la Cantillon Classique mais le profil reste très américain, savoureux.

they call this a geuze there at barrelworks. good good beer. got 2nds. lemony tartness and oak and acidity. very approachable and delicious.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy yellow-golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of tart lemon, oak, earth into a bit of white wine, more funky, cheesy notes into a bit of bretty earthy notes as well. Taste is a mix of earth, grass, bread, white wine, hints of funk into a bit of brett, cheese, tart lemon, finishing tart, funky.
