A Belgian Quad by recipe, but aging it in spirits barrels garners its own category: Central Coast Quad. A beer formulated to sit on the sweeter and malty side so that we could utilize it for blending. Turbinado brown sugar from Mexico and Belgian candi sugar add wonderful molasses flavors. It has a full body and lush texture with barrel expression all over this beer: toasted oak, coconut, leather and cigar tobacco.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2014 Draft at Barrelworks. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Sweet sugary nose. Taste is really nice, near overpowering sweetness followed by an almost cinnamon spiciness. This stuff should go into a bourbon barrel ASAP to chill out for 2 or 3 years!

The smell is complex sweet full of bourbon caramel toffee & malt. The taste is complex as well sweet but not overly so full of bourbon, caramel, & toffee just a great experience. One the best mouthfuls iíve personally encountered. This is a fantastic beer that should be enjoyed by all beer lovers. Firestone Walkerís best IMHO!

Draft. Cranberry-hued, with very little head. Brown sugar, candied raisins and buttery French vanilla in the nose. Very sweet aroma. The beer was formulated to be sweet and malty for blending purposes, and itís clear in the flavor. Raisin, fig, grape -- all the dark fruits, left out to ripen. A rough, alcoholic edge lingers on the tongue. Alcohol is intense, tongue-numbing -- I canít feel my tongue -- and blazing thorough the nostrils. Very low, tingly carbonation, medium body. Sweet, boozy and inebriating. A little heavy on the barrel as well as a bit one-dimensional.
