5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottle from trade. Thanks Boltz! Shared with Pete and Gail. Let me just say I donít think Iíve ever rated a beer at a 5. This one won handís down. I was nearly depressed when I drank the last sip because I wanted more. Snifter glass. The pour was a deep amber with an almost golden hue. One finger head slowly lingered. Great lacing at first and then an almost enchanting swirl of leftover head throughout. The aroma was maybe the best ever. Strong performance of wood barrel, booze, malts, caramel, toffee and dark candies. The taste matched the aroma in quality and strength. Toffee, caramel, vanilla, malts, oak, candied sugars, and bitter chocolates. Perfect mouth feel of almost creaminess. Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. I canít wait to have another one of these.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured into a large snifter after about 20 minutes out of the ice bucket. Deep reddish brown with a fair amount of tan, creamy head. Good lacing, and the collar was thick at the edge of the glass. Aroma of toffee, caramel, some woody earthiness, sweet medium roasted malt too. Taste is of toffee/caramel, leather, woody-earthy, very lightly smokey (perhaps because of the campfire). So damn good. Mouthfeel is all that barleywines should be. Appropriately carbonated, medium creamy body. I could drink this til the cows come home; too bad I have to trade for it.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, thnx to a very generous trader, shared with kermis at CBC ticket tasting, 2013 release. Pours a dark, reddish black beer with a small, off white, creamy head on top. Aroma has/gives massive wood, vanilla, bourbon, caramel and touches of chocolate. Flavor is sweet, bourbon vanilla characacters combined with a chocolate, malty backbone. Big wood presence in the flavors as well, making it very complex and a great sipper. Mellow alcholic for such high abv. Very well balanced and an awesome beer!

Aroma has massive wood, vanilla, boozy bourbon/whiskey, overripe dark fruits, caramel, fudge and a little chocolate. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate too heavy bitter. Full on sweet booziness up front with the bitterness hanging around behind in a long finish. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Epic!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber (12,5% ABV). A clear dark brown beer, with a large, frothy, lightly lacing, mostly lasting off-white to light brown head. The aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, caramel), hint of hops (resin), with notes of coconut, vanilla, wood, whisky/bourbon, alcohol, raisin, plums. The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium to full body, velvety/syrupy texture. soft/lively carbonation, very long finish with almost moderate bitterness, heavily alcoholic. Extra-yummy nose with lots of aspects. A joy to smell. Super sweet taste, with reasonable final bitterness to balance. Still overly boozy and bourbony to the point of burning the throat. A bit cloying after some sips. Imnpossible for me to finish the whole bomber. Overall a quality sipper.
