Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

Note: Sucaba is the beer formerly known as Abacus until the Winter 2012 release.

2014-09-26. Nice dark brown body with a small beige head. 4+ Aroma is big and boozy, bourbon? Notes of caramel. 7+ Flavour is similar, sweet rich alcoholic character, light wood character grows. Bitterness in the finish keeps it from becoming too sweet. 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation. Alcohol is restrained considering. Bottle shared by Blankboy/

2011. Smells very oaky. Looks like a delicious barleywine, tastes like a delicious barleywine, MUST BE A DELICIOUS BARLEYWINE! Really good. Some vanilla in the flavor with oak and caramel notes. Delish.

2013. Pours a deep amber with a small beige head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of coconut, bourbon, oak, vanilla and caramel. Taste is of coconut, chocolate and bourbon, really nice. Incredibly oaky. It is hot but I like it like that. Body is full, carbonation kind of low and mouthfeel velvety. Alcohol dries the mouth quite hard. World class it is for sure!

Dark brown with an amber hue through the light. Big boozy aims, with oak, vanilla, dark red fruits. Fantastic shipping beer. Bourbon heat, oak, vanilla, chocolate, and booze. Just world class stuff.

this is deep dark bourbony goodness at close to perfection. if the bourbon cools off a bit, this has potential to be one of the best barreled beers out there. i have it juuust shy of FW13 (4.7) because as of now it lacks the immense complexity of that beer, but it is deeeelicious. couldn’t keep my nose out of the glass...dark fruit esters, loads of Heaven Hill bourbon. wine like and sweet maltiness. AWESOME brew."

The color of this beer is a deep, clear garnett that is almost too dark to see through, and there’s a small light tan head that fades quickly. The aroma blends raisins, bourbon, oak, cherries, booze, and caramel malts, and the taste is mildly sour, mildly sweet, slightly umami, and a touch bitter due to the dark fruit, boozy, and toffee flavors. The aftertaste is boozy and astringent, and the palate fuses an oily texture, nearly flat carbonation despite the bite created on the tongue, and a medium-full body.

Pours ruby brown with aroma of dark fruit, vanilla, chocolate, and hint of booze. Dark fruit including cherry and fig flavor with vanilla, chocolate, and a touch of bourbon. Wonderful beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazed ruby brown with a big whitish head that goes away fast One of the worst smelling beers I’ve encountered in a while. Smells of nail polish remover old meat and farts. Strangely tastes not too fucking shabby. Vanilla and a savory wood note accent the Chocolate covered cherry note well. Just can’t get past that smell.

Tap at CBC 2014. Brownish-red in the glass. Alcoholic-malty aroma. Starts intense alcoholic-malty, sharp, burning. Fruity warming finish. A bit too alcoholic, but still okay.

On draft at High Street. Nice full aromas and tastes of Earth, woog, vanilla, dark fruit, chocolate and coconut. The blend was perfect and really poped once it warmed.
