Beautiful topaz color, toffee & maple aroma with bourbon present but not overpowering. Light-to-medium body. Fantastic caramel bread pudding flavor. Quite a bit of bourbon heat now, but I like that - makes this feel like a real after-dinner cordial. I'm sure it'll be nice when it mellows over time too.

on draft at library ale house, no head, opaque dark Amber brown, like the color of wood, chestnut or mahogany, fig and baked prune, dark brown sugar and rich nutty oaky vanilla aromas, not boozy tho, flavor follows aroma, incredibly drinkable with a flavor that balloons outward and amplifies over time, not syrupy with good balancing carbonation

Big thanks to Nelson longtime want for me. Hazy amber brown with a small amounts of floaters. Bloozey red fruit a bit sweet and some wood character. Wow great warming wood amber barley wine not much hops. Great carbonation for a barrel aged beer.

2014 vintage from a bottle gathering dust in a German outlet... crazy! Pours deep, dark chestnut brown, crystal clear, with a thin head that dissipates quickly to a small ring. Aroma climbs out of the snifter, layers of thick bourbon, oak, vanilla, toasted marshmallows. Low carbonation, just enough to feel it on the tongue. Thick and creamy vanilla, then caramel, oak, bourbon, some heat, then a smooth, slightly woody finish. I could smell it for hours, but find it easy to drink it in minutes.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2015 Very bourbon forward, oak, vanilla, earthy, plum/apricot marmalade, nutty caramel. Taste is extremely balanced and easy going, filled to the brim with bourbon, caramel, and oak.

[6820-20140926] 650mL bottle. Wooden fruity plum raisin aroma. Clear, red mahogany body with a quick foamy off-white head. Sweet grainy malt and fruity plum flavour. Full body. Delicious, not noticeably boozy, and a great example of the style. (7/3/8/4/16) 3.8

Refrigerated 2011 brown bomber poured into a snifter. Dark brown with very small off-white head. Aroma is bourbon, medium body, low carbonation, and very little lacing. Taste is bourbon, dark fruit (raisins and prunes), vanilla, oak, some coconut, and hints of alcohol. I prefer gibcbw.

Poured from bomber into tulip glass about 8 months after bottling. Moderate fizzy head that quickly dissipates. Somewhat muted, but enticing aroma that doesn't really demonstrate the barrel aging. The flavor, however, is excellent. It tastes like a mature, refined barleywine. The barrel aging doesn't come through at first but that's because it is so well integrated. As you continue drinking and the beers warms, it comes through and reveals itself as a pleasant foundation of the beer. This isn't an aggressive, in your face beer, despite the abv. Rather it's elegant, beautifully simple, and subtle. Typical firestone walker deftness.
