Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

Note: Sucaba is the beer formerly known as Abacus until the Winter 2012 release.

Bomber poured into FW reserve glass. 2015 vintage. Beautiful maroon body with a nice off white head that dissipates. Smells of bourbon, malt, sugar and leathery tobacco. Tastes of milky coconut, thick leather polished off with some bourbon. Some heat on the tongue most likely because its a young beer. Also notes of chocolate left afterward. God, this might be the best beer I’ve ever had.

Bottle poured to pint glass. Bourbon smell. Tastes similar to dogfish head old skool but better. Heavy on the bourbon. 2015 vintage ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a brownish mahogany color with a small yeasty tan head. Notes of coconut, whiskey, chocolate, and some dark fruit. Very sweet and tough to drink.

2012 bottle. Pours dark with a slight reddish color. A nice head that dissipates to hug my glass and leaves a fine thin layer of foam on top of the beer. The aroma is of oak, tobacco, chocolate, vanilla, muted cherry fruit, bourbon booze, and a weak coconut scent. In tasting I noticed bourbon, vanilla, mild bitter chocolate, sweet malted grains, very weak tart cherry flavor, and defined coconut notes. The finish blends so well leaving a subtle tart cherry, chocolate, and boozy taste that lingers nicely. Overall a hell of a brew. A pleasant drinkable brew even with the higher abv. I’d have this again.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2015 Mahagóni teste jelentéktelen méretű, ám annál izgalmasabb habot fejleszt a pohárba töltés során, karakteres, masszív italok habfedőjének képe ez. Roppant súlyos illatnyalábjai éretten elegáns főzetek lakhelyeként szolgáló fahordó rajzolatát veszik fel, tölgyes karakterek töltik meg tartalommal a kókuszos-vaníliás, mazsolás, szűnni nem akaróan összeszedett kompozíciót. Krémes, folyékony falatokkal fedezhetjük fel szikrázóan izgalmas, komplex szerkezetét, amiben a tagadhatatlanul angol modorú ízjegyek táncot járnak a hordóérlelés mesteri módon kivitelezett jellegének magával ragadó komponenseivel. Csípős, pergő kortyai szabályozott tüzes hangulatot árasztanak, minőségi alkoholok körvonala bontakozik ki a betyáros bourbon fonalától vezérelt, elgondolkodtatóan összetett és sima szerkezetben. Visszafogottan édes maláta alkoholos csintalansággal teletűzdelt jellege, markáns lecsengésű, angolszász stílusú képek ízletes összessége. Az egyik legjobb barley wine, amit valaha ittam.

Nose of hay, caramel, some lemon, almonds and old bread. Very rich in aroma. Boozy taste but very drinkable, has an etherical touch in the after, I taste malt, vanilla, medium zesty funk, some sweet cognac on the middle of the tongue and slight lemon zest on the sides of the palate. I love the drinkability. Really nice english barley wine, nothing like our European barleys.

Strong bourbon aroma with lots of caramel behind it. Clear ruby with a quickly dissipating fizzy head. Smooth sweet caramel flavor with a bourbon and alcohol finish. Awesome stuff!

2015 vintage. Really decent bawley wine. Lots of toffee, a touch of sherry and with just a trace of woody/spicy hops. Paired exceptionally well with snicker-doodle cookies.

Its so rich that we could talk about Saudi oil sheiks at the same time. Well ok. Dark malts, alcohol and sweetness. Very much flavours of malt. Rich in alcohol with an abv of 13%. Aftertaste is malt and alcohol. Fantastic good beer!!!!
