Classic label--looks like a Martini ingredient. Great aroma with a lot of vanilla, raisin, and rum. The flavor is less scintillating, with a quick finish that suppresses the multidimensional potential of the beer. Woody, vanilla, cherry, Really solid. Maybe not triumphant. But Jazz88 is triumphant, a hero among heroes and a wonderful human...all that for having shared beers with me today.

Bomber into a tulip. Pours caramel color, with a small beige head. Nose is bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate. Taste is sweet caramel followed by oak, chocolate, booze. I’m not normally a fan of barleywines, but this was fantastic. Seriously, does FW make any bad beers?

On tap at Whole Foods. Pours dark reddish brown with two finger off white head. Oak, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coffee. Thick syrupy creamy body with some particulate matter. Very sweet. It’s really good in small quantities, but too sweet to drink more than 4 or 5 oz.

Rate #700! 2012 Bottle from trade with dak. Thanks! Pours a murky brownish with some ruby reddish purple at the edges. Small brownish yellow head that recedes quickly. Aroma if huge vanilla and. Aramel biscuits, sweet brown sugar, molasses, and bourbon. Awesome! Flavor is caramel vanilla up front, bready malts, molasses, more vanilla and a bit of licorice, and ending with hot bourbon notes. Lingering dry oak and bourbon on the palate. Finishes surprisingly smooth and easy. A great balance of sweet and oakiness. Plenty of rich hearty body to handle the barrels. Low to medium carbonation. A sipper and oh so yum. Glad I got some of this for the 700 milestone!
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 RLiddell (24) - Valrico, Florida, USA - JUN 3, 2013
From 22 ounce bomber bought in Las Vegas. Pours a dark carmel color, with bubbles adhering to the side of my glass. The aroma is pure heaven, with the bourbon and oak notes giving way to the malty sweetness, chocolate and booze. Taste is sweet up front, followed by a tobacco dryness that balances the palate perfectly! My only regret is that I only brought one bottle home with me!

22oz bottle, poured into a snifter. This beer has everything you would ever want from a BA Barelywine. Aroma is intense, taste is soo complex, I could drink this every day. Definitely better than last years batch.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ansermadide (1230) - Kyle, Texas, USA - JUN 2, 2013
Light-bodied in appearance, this bottle of perfection is dark brown in color with a soda-like carbonation that adheres to the sides of my glass. I could smell this all day long. It’s sweet, woody, alcoholic, and slightly of Bourbon. When I die I want this on my death bed... in my hand. It’s amazing in the mouth, the perfect balance of light bodiedness, maltiness, alcohol and hops, all perfectly blended. It’s smooth, with a touch of dark, candy like sweetness.
This is godly. It’s the perfect balance of all worlds. Just the right amount of everything, with enough hair on its chest to be beefy - but not so much that you get hair in your teeth. I wish I could drink this every day... for breakfast, lunch, dinner, second lunch, second dinner, midnight snack... I’m in love.
