Thanks so much to Scottoale for telling me about it even though at the time (at alesmith I was like dude, I don’t need this I want to go home, I’m glad I got to have it. Tap @ O’brien’s. Pours blackish red with a tan ring. Nose is light and ok, really too cold to get much. Taste is wow, f’ing wow. Sweet, malty, rich slick with bourbon and oak and vanilla, yummers!

12.5% abv. Had on tap at the Grog. Pours a murky dark brown: trim off-tan head barely a finger in length. Leather, tobacco, char, vanilla, and candied sugar on the forefront; black cherry and lacquer on the finish. Not really my thing, but it was enjoyable.

Bottle @CBC13. Dark amber with small tan head. Nose is sweet, with dark fruits, wood, bourbon and vanilla. Taste is very sweet, perfumy with oak, bourbon and vanilla notes

2012 vintage Bomber. Glowing caramel pour with a slight fizzy head. Aroma is fruity, very boozy, some bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, dried fruits abound. Mouth feel is slick, oily. Very hot, but loads of dried fruits and bourbon in the flavor, very refined. Tasty but very boozy.

'12 vintage bottle. The pour is a deep copper with little head. The aroma is strong of bourbon with hints of toffee. The taste is big sweet booze upfront. Mellows out a bit throughout the drink. Gives a nice warming effect, a good sipping beer.

Abacus 2012 rating. Nice right dissipating head with hazy brown color. Aromas are big sweet bourbon vanilla nuts cocoa. The flavor its sweet and boozy with tight wood flavor and strong hop note for balance. Viscous feel but spice and wood. Really awesome.

Pours a rich brown copper color with a finger of khaki foam that slips away quickly. On the nose its soft brown sugar, molasses, touches of toasted malts, bourbon, vanilla bean, tobacco and fig. The palate matches the nose beautifully and the mouthfeel is spot on for the style rich round silky yet soft with light tight bubbles that clean the mouth on the finish. Wow !

As Abacus. Bottle @ ZeeBra Extreme Beer Festival 2013. Hazy brown pour. Aroma of bourbon, spicy madeira, creamy alcohol and vanilla. Flavor is sweet roasted, spicy, smooth a bit thin, alcoholic and bourbon. A bit heavy.

Bottle at CBC. Dark reddish colour with small white head. Sweet, oak aromas, also malts and vanilla. Sweet and vanilla taste, with some malt and acidic aftertaste.
