Pours a dark brown color with a small khaki head. Nose is a nice blend of chocolate, vanilla, booze, and sweet caramel. A dark fruit character, perhaps cherry and plum, is also there. Maybe just a hint of licorice. The flavor is full of bourbon, vanilla, and wood. Lightly boozy with tons of chocolate and caramel. A touch of maple syrup and brown sugar along with the same black cherry and plum fruitiness.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with reddish hues. Right after the pour there is a quick gathering of bubbles that rapidly vanish. Light doesn’t pass through the body.

Aroma: Bourbon soaked wood, dark chocolate, cherry.

Taste: Caramel, dark chocolate, spicy earthy hops, maple sugar wood bourbon bite in the finish that lingers.

Mouthfeel: Warming, medium bodied, modest carbonation.

Overall: I know I can’t help but be partial to this beer, it was made out of love for this site. With that said, it ranks up there with any of the Firestone Walker Anniversary beers I’ve ever had. It’s very delicious.

On tap at the 5th Anniversary Party. Pours with a near black hued body with a scant tan head that lasts for a bit as a ring. Aromas are pretty strong on the alcohol, but balanced and intoxicating (in a complementary way). Bourbon, almost brandy like wood presence, vinous, rich dark fruit ester character: prunes, raisins, medjool dates, honey. Some vanillin, bready malt, rich. Flavors are of cotton candy, rich melanoidins, fudge and dark chocolate. Caramel, bourbon, brown sugar and dark fruits. Decadent and balanced by tannin. Good. Thicker mouthfeel, rich but still finishing dry. The alcohol also balances more than it detracts. Lower carbonation. Great blend for a great event!
