3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle from AJís in Scottsdale, AZ. Didnít make many notes other than the scores and I seem to have blocked out this night of the Insight Bowl entirely. I do recall a slight imbalance in this brew though...like it was having an identity crisis on whether it was a California or Colorado style AND whether it was a regular or double IPA, with a little too much pine and a little too much booze. Generally good, but I didnít get the world-class experience others seem to have had.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is strong citrus and flowery purfume hops. Light sweet caramel. Appearance is Light orange brown with small white head. Taste is similar to the hops aroma. Nice caramel and honey flavors as well, vanilla. Much bitterness but also nice maltiness and hops aroma really keeps this beer well balanced. Grapefruit and pine bitterness linger. Palate is medium and crisp. Overall a very nice beer. Tastes like the other FW beers.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle, thanks vode! Copper color with creamy head. Perfumed and fresh flowery-citrusy hop aroma, lovely freshness. Flowery, lemony and tart fruity flavor with smooth bitterness and notes of mango. Very hop forward, just enough toffeish malt backbone. Very drinkable and smooth palate, I could drink lots of this.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to my Secret Santa for the bomber. Light copper pour with a thin white head. Nice citrus hop aroma, good and resiny. Smooth malt body, nice residual sweetness and a big citrus hop bitterness in the taste. Lots of big citrus hop notes, but really well balanced by the malt.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle (8/13/10 on the bottle neck, not sure if this is bottled on or best by date. Pours a clear light copper with big white head that leaves some nice lace behind. Delicious aroma of light biscuit and pale malt with some juicy citric, pine, and minty hops. Bold but balanced. The flavor is the same. Very delicious. Medium body with medium carb. Overall: not much to say other than that this is just a damn tasty beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted on 12/17/10 from a 12oz bottle purchased at Whole Foods Chandler. Pours clear light orange with an average white head that leaves bubbly lace. The nose is primarily citrus hops with just a hint of both earthiness and resin, grass, cardamom, and a bread malt backbone. The flavor is fruity and malty up front with the grass and bitterness on the middle, and a bitter and cardamom back. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long bitter and cardamom finish. This beer is both very balanced and very complex.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake, VA. Pours golden orange with a thin off-white head. Clean floral hop aroma, pineapple, and tangerines. The flavor is a combination of bitter grapefruit, pineapple, and tangerine but at no time does this seem too bitter or too fruity. The flavors are clean crisp and well balanced. Essentially itís exactly what you would expect if you know anything about Firestone Walker: itís a hoppier, amped up version of Pale 31. And thatís a very good thing. This is a great IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear golden coloured body with a light amber glow and a deep, dense off-white head - nice! Aroma of strong pineapple and piney hops, malt, alcohol and a very nice and potent dry hop. Medium-bodied; Assertive piney and floral hop taste with a good malt backbone and then the sudden and potent hop flavour - very very nice. Aftertaste has quite a bit of hop kick, but is balanced quite nicely by the caramel sweetness and the good malt backbone. Overall, a very nice IPA, showing a ton of hops, a good balance, some pleasurable sweetness, but the strong hops remain number one. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Normís in Vienna, Virginia on 01-July-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 29-November-2010.

A: Pours a bright, slightly darkened orange with a nice white head.
S: Lots of grapefruit, orange, and other citrus notes. Some malt sweetness far into the background.
T: Very similar to the smell. Lots of refreshing hop bitterness with a little bit of the sweet aroma working its way into the taste.
M: Medium-bodied with a little bit of chewiness.
D: Quite drinkable. A very nice IPA to quaff back all day.
