An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Union Jack is abound with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is dry hopped 3 separate times, each lot giving it more and more of the grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel.

Pour is a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma is all things pine hops. Flavor is again all pine/citrus hops with minimal malts. This is west coast IPA all the way. Iím already having hops burps. A must for hop heads.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2012 Clear amber pour with a fairly tractile fizzy white head. Nose holds brilliant white grapefruit, lemon zest, grass, and floral hops. The flavor adds beautiful orange and clementine along with hemlock, juniper, and spruce. Very clean and unmitigated, and drinks very well for a 7.5% IPA. Excellent.

Location/Date:Bottle on December 8th, 2011.

Appearance: Pours a semi-opaque orange/copper.
Aroma: Aroma is mostly of grapefruit and citrus, some pine.
Taste:Nice amount of bitterness, balanced by some sweetness.
Palate:Medium body, has a nice lingering hop/piney aftertaste.

Summary: I like this American/Cali style IPA, particularly how the hop flavor sticks on the end.

Bottle shared with friends. Pours clear golden with a white head. Citrus and grapefruit in aroma. Flavour matches aroma. Great IPA

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma strong of grapefruit-like and citrusy hops plus some caramel malts. The hops are really strong in this beer compared to a lot of IPAs. Average texture. A really good example of a West Coast IPA.

Bottle and on tap. A very solid India Pale Ale. Good balance and smooth drinking. Big malt sweetness with sticky caramel flavor. Hops stand out with pine and strong citrus. Mild bitterness throughout that gets stronger for a crisp finish. Tasty.

Clear copper golden pour. Very grassy and citrus aroma. More malt forward with a nice hop touch.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2011 Draft at Yardhouse Va Beach. Canít believe I hadnít rated this. This is a bright golden amber beer with a firm head of foam. It drinks with a classic California IPA appeal, akin to Racer 5 and Green Flash IPA -- intensely floral and aromatic. (#4367, 11/27/2011)

Bottle, pours a nice copper, smells very hop, with pine and a bit of citrus. Taste is a light pine blended well with a malt base, very nice stuff
