An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Union Jack is abound with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is dry hopped 3 separate times, each lot giving it more and more of the grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel.

Bottled 6.6.11, c/o Gription79. Pours clear, bright orange and yellow, with a thick 2-finger off-white head. A thick ring of creamy lacing remains as I drink this. The aroma is spicy citrus and sweet doughy, bready malt. The flavor is mild pine and sweet citrus peel, sweet caramel malt, and some cocoa. The finish is bitter citrus. Medium carbonation and body, a little warming, and nicely refreshing. Good stuff. Thanks Dallas! [759]

Clear golden pour with a fluffy white head, excellent retention. Classic PNW hop aroma with some citrus, pine, touch of caramel, slightly grassy - I would guess that the aroma hops are Columbus, Cascade & Centennial. Medium body, tingly carbonation, almost undetectable alcohol warmth. This one is balanced all the way from the front palate to the finish. Sweet and bitter are fighting to a draw. Long, dry finish. A remarkable IPA - especially at this price point!

Sample at taproom. Light amber with white head. Hops are up front, grapefruit and a bit of pine less so. Bitter all the way through, good carbonation, well balanced apart from a bit too sweet towards the end. Nice laid back dry and bitter finish.

Clear golden amber with a nice white head... Fruity aroma, tropical, not a lot of malt in the aroma... Not very lively, some noticeable pine, pretty bitter, light light citrus, not much tropical notes to note in the flavor... Smells excellent tastes good... Mildly disappointing, medium bodied....

Bottle. Aroma is malty and some of the hops get lost. You can taste the simcoe hops in the flavor and some mild hints of citrus. Decent ipa, but not one of my favorites.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2011 22oz bottle. Pours a hazy dark copper with large frothy white head and lots of lacing. Aroma is citrus, grass, floral. Taste is quite resiny with a good complimenting malt backbone. Medium bodied; slightly sticky texture. Finish is a bit abrupt but otherwise has a good bitterness.

Had hopes to have the Double Jack @Rio Grill in Carmel but that one was out so tried Union Jack instead. A very good IPA with distinct flavors of simcoe and centennial.

From a 12 oz bottle courtesy of Ep. Brewed 6-6-11 so itís pretty fresh. Pours a very light straw color... lighter and clearer than I expected... definitely a West Coast IPA. Only two inches of head but TONS of lacing. Aroma of flowers and grass. Mouthfeel is lighter than I expected but real good. Just the right amount of carbonation to give it some heft but itís not too heavy or syrupy. Taste is of floral and tropical hops...very exotic! Some alcohol and the malt is present but very well hidden. Overall a very, very, very solid IPA. I will absolutely get some again. Canít wait to try the Double Jack.
