An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Union Jack is abound with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is dry hopped 3 separate times, each lot giving it more and more of the grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel.

Oh man. I could drink this forever. Hops are massive on the nose with fruit (lemon, orange), a grainy malt and a lovely caramel/toffee. Caramelised flavours - toffee, hokey pokey; with a glorious strong hoppiness. These hops are resiny, oily - coating the tongue. Finish is full of hops and lasts with a nice fruitiness. Thanks donfardz64

Bottle. Clear golden amber pour with a nice bubbly white head that doesn’t last too long. Very hoppy nose has notes of passionfruit, grapefruit, orange and caramel. Flavour is still very hoppy and fruity but has a strong toffee/malt backbone. Mouthfeel is light and smooth with moderate carbonation and a medium to long bitter finish. Very nice IPA both powerful and subdued.

Bottle. I got a 6 pack from a trade, 4 of them were gushers. Poured a clear golden color with an off white head. Aroma is grass, green hops, citrusy resinous hops, caramel, and crystal malt. Medium body with a crisp mouth feel and ample carbonation. Great sweet caramel, malty undertones in the flavor, also some fairly big notes of citrus, pine, and grass. This one has a good amount of hoppy bitterness which is nicely balanced by the caramel sweetness. Solid West Coast IPA.

12 oz bottle, no freshness date or bottled on date.
Clear burnt orange, half inch beige head. Nice retention sticky lace.
Ruby red grapefruit nose on top, earth and caramel underneath.
Flavors are pine and earth with some citrus and crystal malt layered in the middle, with a nice pine and citrus hop finish.
Alcohol is well hidden.

Clear amber golden body with lasting head. Big hoppy nose, pine and citrus. Easily drinkable for me though the partner thought it was too bitter, medium light body and don’t notice the alcohol, liked this but would also like to try it really fresh.

Caramel, wet-bread malt character. Piney hop notes with moderate citrus and a leafy vegetation tint. A little soapy and astringent. Finish is dry.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a white head. Aroma is tons of citrus hops. Flavor is very hoppy but not too bitter. The predominant flavor is orange and other citrus fruits. Medium mouthfeel and very drinkable. This is a beer that I could drink several of in one sitting. This is a great beer.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2010 Floral and resiny hop aroma. Color is copper. Awesome taste of hop bitterness and malt flavor without sweetness. Solid IPA.

Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Amber, slight copper hue, clear, lively carbonation, moderate frothy off-white head, nice lacing.   Certainly looks the biz.   Straight up hop nose.   Very minor barnish/musty malts.   Clean, slight citrus aspects, smooth hoppiness.   Not biting at all, while remaining hoppy and somewhat citrusy.   Seems well balanced, smooth, with a nice finish.   Body and mouthfeel are spot on.   Lingering citrus zest.   I would enjoy it more if it had a touch more sweetness.   That woukd really round it out.   As is, fairly solid and enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours golden amber with a creamy laced white head. Wow now that’s one awesome aroma, exactly how I like my IPA’s. There’s a burst of juicy hops right off the bat. Heaps of grapefruit and citrus, orange and pine. Great bitterness and finishes refreshingly dry. A delicious IPA...great stuff!
