12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma strong of grapefruit-like and citrusy hops plus some caramel malts. The hops are really strong in this beer compared to a lot of IPAs. Average texture. A really good example of a West Coast IPA.

Bottle and on tap. A very solid India Pale Ale. Good balance and smooth drinking. Big malt sweetness with sticky caramel flavor. Hops stand out with pine and strong citrus. Mild bitterness throughout that gets stronger for a crisp finish. Tasty.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2011 Draft at Yardhouse Va Beach. Canít believe I hadnít rated this. This is a bright golden amber beer with a firm head of foam. It drinks with a classic California IPA appeal, akin to Racer 5 and Green Flash IPA -- intensely floral and aromatic. (#4367, 11/27/2011)

Bottle, pours a nice copper, smells very hop, with pine and a bit of citrus. Taste is a light pine blended well with a malt base, very nice stuff

Pours crystal clear golden/amber with an off-white head. The aroma has a huge amount of grapefruit hoppiness along with some pine and earthiness. The aroma is full of dry resiny hoppiness with only the slightest bit of malt detectable. Medium body (light for IPA) with some harshness and sharp prickly carbonation. The flavor starts out with grapefruit rind, pine, earth, bits of tropical fruit ~ almost all hops. There is a bit of moderately sweet malt trying to give some balance. The finish is more hops with tones of grapefruit and resin. The description says "well balanced", but this was a hops slanted beer to me & Iíve got no problem with that. Great IPA.

Clear glowing orange with a large white head. Great lacing. The aroma has a strong floral character with with pineapple, orange, and pine. The flavor is just as fruity, with sweet but clean malt and lingering spicy and herbaceous hop notes. Dynamic sweet to bitter balance and long lingering ibuís.Light, oily body with moderate carbonation. One hell of an ipa.

Pours a clear deep golden yellow with a thin white top and good lacing. Aroma is loads of grapefruit hops and great malt. Taste is again a blast of grapefruit hops but itís so well balanced with malt that it doesnít kill you, just makes you want another.

Slightly dark golden yellow, white cover. Aroma is lots of hops, pine, spicy, a bit of citrus, light malt sweetness. Taste is light bodied for the ABV, lots of hops, maybe a touch thin to support the hops. Tasty though.

Pint from Caponeís. Pours medium amber with one finger of thick head. Excellent retention throughout itís short life. Aromas of juicy grapefruit, mango, lemon, and pine climb up into your nose while the glass sits on the bar. Lots of juicy, resinous hops impart flavors of grapefuit and pine without being overly bitter due to a solid tofee-driven malt backbone. One of my favorite IPAs...Philadelphia is blessed to carry FW.
