cmonster (74), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 6, 2009 Updated: Jul 19, 2009Bomber poured into a tulip. Clear copper-orange in color. Decent sized off-white head that leaves a nice lace. Piney pineapple hops and touch of malt sweetness. Bitter hoppy flavor with toasty, roasty malts. Lengthy bitter, drying finish. Tasty. Tried again with consistent notes. MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Apr 2, 2009 [Bottle] from Cloudskipper. Thanks Chris! Pours a clear golden honey color with a smallish white head with little lacing. Aroma is a bit of citric and piney hops, a touch of oxidation, and some crackery malt. Flavor is very hop forward, but the malt is definitely there and adds a bit of metallic flavor. Finish is moderately bitter and quite dry. aaronbr (50), Palo Alto, California, USA Apr 1, 2009 On Tap at the Rose and Crown in Palo Alto. Looks great, tastes better. Can’t find much wrong with this one! CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Mar 25, 2009 Another big thanks to cloudskipper for this brew. Huge, wonderful hop nose with just about everything you’d want in a IPA. Flavor is pretty sexy, but not quite as good. A very solid IPA. travita (1864), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 22, 2009 The smell is caramel, hops, pine, citrus, and pine neddles. The look is clear, good beige head, and a golden in color. The taste is a nice bitterness, caramel, pine, and citrus. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Mar 21, 2009 Gold in color with a good sized off-white head. Aroma is of citrus, pine, and spicy hops. Taste is pine and grapefruit. Nice bitterness in the finish. mullet (798), Melbourne, Australia Mar 21, 2009 Clearly I am the easily suggestible type because I assumed (based on the name I guess) that this was made with British hops. I scribbled down some notes which said "big UK hop aroma, but obviously done in the US style" - whatever that means now that I know it’s made with nearly every classic American hop. Clearly I have no idea what I’m on about. Anyway, the hop aroma was definitely big and resiny regardless of origin. Lovely clean pale malt flavours, with an almost vanilla-like edge, minimal yeast influence and a lovely oily hop flavour throughout with great bitterness, hinting at lavender. A fairly stark reminder of just how far ahead of the game the Yanks are when it comes to good IPAs. These guys are really good - a seriously underrated brewery in my mind. SSSteve (2049), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Mar 17, 2009 orange under a small white head. hoppy grapefruit, peach, lemon aroma. nice full body. flavor has lots of malts balanced with peachy, piney hops.
