badbeer (432), Iowa, USA Dec 30, 2008 Orange/copper color with a white head that retains well and leaves good lacing on the glass. Grapefruit, pine, biscuit, caramel and an astringent grassy-ness in the aroma. Taste is bitter with pine, grapefruit, light lemon citrus, and a bit of lightly toasted biscuits providing a bit of a malt background. Less than medium body, dry finish, and medium carbonation. A nice, drinkable IPA that I’d enjoy from time to time. Maybe future bottles will have a better aroma, but the taste and mouthfeel was good at least. Thanks to doubleo for the bottle. rayg1 (433), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Dec 28, 2008 Had this beer on Christmas Eve with family and friends. Pours out a deep orange copper with a light orange head to it. Smell is deep of grapefruit and pine resin. As I smell again I can pick up some grassy notes as well. The taste is very pleasing biscuity flavor due to rich malts and a touch of sweetness of caramel. This beer is a bit sweeter than I thought it would be and notes of tangerine are found during the citrus smack of flavor. I also had this beer aged between 6 to 8 months so I know the hops are not as fresh or strong as they could be. However, they certainly make themselves known in a hurry. Big hop profile and evergreem come rushing in to balance the caramel sweetness. Not bad, if I had this beer fresher I know it would have seen a small rating bump due to better hop presence. KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 24, 2008 Cloudy amber with medium off white head. Hoppy aroma with citric and piney notes. Loads of hops in the flavour. Notes of grapefruit, pine and toasted malt. Dry bitter finish. mreusch (715), Olathe, Kansas, USA Dec 23, 2008 12oz. bottle with thanks to EinWeizenbitte from over on BA for the great bonus. Pours a hazy golden with a slight orange tint, a one finger creamy white head, and moderate retention and lacing. Aroma is nice and piney, with some light citrus and caramel in there as well. Flavor is also pine, light citrus and caramel. This is a well done crisp and refreshing IPA, and would definitely pickup from time to time if it was available locally. Thanks again Todd! can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Dec 21, 2008 Deliciously hoppy offering. Lovely warm pine hoppy notes in the aroma, subtle richness to the malt backing on the palate. A very tasty IPA - almost chewy in its hoppiness. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Dec 16, 2008 12oz bottle-pours a rich retaining off white head that laces and amber color. Aroma is cascade/orange hops-some bitter, some medium malt. Taste is cascade/orange zest bitterness hops, a bit abrasive/slight metallic, some medium malt. Thanks jwc215 for picking this out. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Dec 13, 2008 This has a great citrus hop aroma. The flavor has a great up front hop bite. The bitterness continues and leaves a nice tingly bite in your mouth. Good stuff. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Dec 11, 2008 Bottle acquired via Sparky27...Eric ROCKS. This bottle a bit past its prime but I know Eric drove 50 plus miles to get it...appreciate the effort. You can definitely tell, even with age, that this is a well put together brew. The aggressive pine and citrus have turned to caramel, honey, and sweet malt. Copper colored body produces a nice half inch off white head. Can only imagine how good this is when fresh. Highly drinkable, even now.
