Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark gold with a fluffy one inch bright white head that had great retention and lacing. Looks down right pretty. Great mostly resiny hop nose, but there’s a touch of citrus as well. A little malt there, but mostly is stays out of the way and lets the hops take center stage. The hops aren’t as bright as I had hoped, more of a dull resiny bitterness. They are very raw and green tasting though. A little more malt than the nose led on, it came out nicely on the finish with a dry caramel note. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a resiny stickiness that coats the cheeks. Nice soft fizzy carbonation. A pretty decent IPA for sure.

12oz bottle shared by wolf. Nice orange color, good fluffy white head. Nice aroma of citrus hops. Taste was a clean and crisp. Fresh hop taste. Nicely balanced with some malts. Texture was medium, a little creamy. Very easy to drink. This was a really good IPA, thanks wolf for sharing this one.

Bottle thanks to Hophead22. Poured a nice copper color with small white head. Aroma is citrus and pine hops. Taste is very balanced with pine, citrus, and malt. Finished very smooth and went down smooth, and very drinkable. Always welcome me way.

Pours a clear copper with a minimal head and thin, stringy lacing. Citrus and pine on the nose, backed by caramel and some toasty breadyness. Hops hit first (as they should), with tangerine, lemon, and pine, followed suit by the caramel and bread from the malts. Very well balanced, a nice hop profile that doesn’t overwhelm the palate. Finishes a bit dry for my taste, but drinkability is high. Damn tasty; this one will definitely be added to my regular rotation.

Pours a very nice clean/clear, dark golden orange color, nice carbonation, nice little fizzy off-white head, some islands and sticky lacing follows. The nose is pretty hoppy, with some malts thrown in, citrus, and some pines. The taste is hoppy, with some nice maltyness, with some citrus and pines. Medium body, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Very drinkable, this is a very tasty IPA, a classic in the making.

12 oz bottle. Pours nearly burnt orange with compact beige head. Aroma is cleanest citrus hops and orange marmalade, with pine and a fruity Hawaiian Punch note. Body is refreshing: neither watery nor filling but satisfying. Flavorful caramel sweet undertones complement steady fruit hop bitterness. Distinct because it is delicate and bold simultaneously.

Bottle courtesy of Iowaherkeye. Pours a beautiful crystal clear gold with a half finger snowy white head that results in decent lacing. Nose is floral and citrus hops and light malt. Taste is tangerine, mango and pink grapefruit with a piney finish. Medium mouth feel. This is delicious – thanks Joey!

Damn, a GABF gold out of 106 entries? I had to try it...and was refreshingly relieved to find it was actually pretty solid. Good caramel malt background play around with a unique hoppiness. It doesn’t beat my green flash go to 6 packer IPA, but it isn’t too far behind.
