9 out of 10 respondents rate this less than 4,0, but it gets a 99% rating... go figure. Anyway, I’m having a few different FW brews today and enjoying them until I got to this one. Obviously I prefer the citrusy IPA’s to the bitter, and both the citrus and the malt in this one are subdued, overwhelmed by a bitter back end that persists. Bottle into a Lagunitas jar (where my tastes lie) producing a bit of foam that quickly dissipates. Aroma of grapefruit rind and rye bread. Flavor, well there’s lots of hops in there, way too many of the non-floral, non-citrusy varieties for my tastebuds. I’ve had more bitter brews... once and never again, and this one joins that rat pack. Hops are added to preserve beer and enhance beer, not to supplant beer.

Tap @ Bier 39 in SF Pier 39. Clear copper with pure white head. Nose has loads of citrus and grapefruit. Bitter followed by sweet. Taste is that of hops, some pine and floral. Crisp and light-bodied. Typical west coast IPA.

Solid west coast ipa, not as bitter as many but not nearly as smooth as the Firestone double jack. Match madness 2016

Initial bite of piney hops. Finishes with a mild hop finish but lingers dry on the tongue. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
