An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Union Jack is abound with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is dry hopped 3 separate times, each lot giving it more and more of the grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel.

Bomber from BOLTZ7555. Thanks Jason! This pours an amber-orange color with a thick off-white head. Lacing pretty much all the way down the glass. Grapefruit, pine, caramel, a little lemon and herbs in the aroma. The flavor consists of sweet caramel malts, bitter resiny hops, along with soapy, sandy and herbal notes. Plenty of bitterness but still a little on the sweet side with a hefty dose of the malt picked up. Could be a little more dry. Definitely a good IPA here.

22oz bottle. Medium off-white head atop crystal clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, pine, some peach, grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit/pine, light bread. Medium body, some resin, light chalk, acidity. Alcohol well contained, fairly drinkable.

The aroma is syrup malt with boozy notes. The appearance is clear honey amber with a decent white head on top. The delicious flavor settles on the palate with the hops and almost a sweet honey flavor, but very subtle.

A: The pour is a typical looking amber color with a rather fluffy and large white head and some nice lacing on the glass. S: Plenty of citrusy hops in the nose. I pick up a lot of grapefruit and perhaps a bit of orange as well. Not really too much malt there, but a bit of breadiness. T: The flavor is essentially a continuation of the nose. Plenty of sharp and juicy grapefruit with a bread-like malt flavor in the background. A mild, resinous bitterness on the back end. M: Medium in body with ample carbonation and a very crisp finish. D: One of the best regular IPAs out there and a stand-by of mine. Very refreshing and easy to drink.

Tap at David Copperfields. Poured a rich golden amber. Nose is bitter and floral hops. Smooth and an easy drinker. Hop notes are prominent but not overpowering. Well balanced with a mild bitter finish. Very tasty.

Pale, crystal clear light orange, decent head lingers as a ring. Aroma initially floral and spicy, moving definitively into citric as it warms, nice pure grapefruit note. When cool, the hops dominate, floral and spice. As it warms, the beer transforms. Remarkable amount of gummy caramel malt comes forward that was absent when cool. Hops clearly citric as well. Bit of alcohol comes through on the finish. Better warmer. Good stuff, but not my favorite from Firestone Walker.

Recieved this as an extra in a trade. Pours a nice golden, orange hued color with a nice head. Already having good lacing as I type. Strong hop smell but also a malty sweetness to go along with it. This is an incredibly balanced beer in my opinion. The hops hit you but not too harshly. Smooth transition to a slight bitterness at the end. I was very pleased with this one. Granted I can’t tell an age on it, but I give it high marks for being so well balanced!

golden yellow with large white head. rich nose of herbal hops. moderate carbonation for style. firm bitterness, huge hop flavor of herbal and some floral notes. definite low crystal malt sweetness with some alcohol adding depth only. medium finish for the style, not bone dry, but not a ton of residual sweetness. great version of the style

Bottle sample at the Front Porch tasting. Clear amber pour with a thin off-white head. Citrusy and grassy hop aroma with some malt. Malty flavor at first, but the grassy and grapefruity hops come fast and furious and last all the way to the end. Very nice.
