UPDATED: JUL 16, 2012 INITIAL SIX-PACK RATING: Incredibly fresh floral aroma - very inviting. Pours to a great sized head that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Excellent lacing. Golden color. Flavor is equally superb - great mouthfeel, great hop notes, nice kick that doesn’t overpower, rich malty aftertaste. Aftertaste lingers and lingers. All it is lacking is a tad more citrus in the flavor - that is it. Only Founders Centennial IPA has this beat, IMO. WOW. Had a family member sample it, and he was blown away, too. RE-RATE, JULY 2012: Family member and I both agreed it wasn’t as good this time - he did a blind taste testing and agreed it wasn’t as great, while I did a re-tasting alone and also agreed it wasn’t as great. We are a little disappointed. Still an excellent aroma, but a little more pine this time. Taking down from 10 to 9. Appearance is good - nice lacing and pretty orange color - but head was smaller compared to Stone IPA. Keeping that rating the same (4/5). Taste - downgrade. Again pinier than last time, and malts less pronounced (though still there - certainly maltier than Stone). Mouthfeel not as good, either. Aftertaste does still linger nicely, but again, could use more citrus. 9 to 8. Taking down the palate from 5 to 3. Overall score down to 4. Don’t find this as great as Bear Republic or Green Flash anymore - depending on my mood, I may opt for this or Bell’s. 4 seems fair. Bottling was recent, so can’t blame it on that. Oh well. Just noticed a big drop-off in quality this time, for whatever reason. A great beer, but 4.7 to 4 is a significant change.

Pours one of the nicest golden oranges I have seen. Aroma is distinctly hops with a bit of citrus backnotes. Taste is hoppy with some citrus and pine. Haven’t had an IPA with hops quite like this. Perhaps its the California hops which I haven’t had too much of. Palate is decent. Mostly hops with a hint of of citrus and pine. Great, refreshing IPA!

Flaske: Orange klar øl med et stort skumhoved. Duften er citrus og en smule malt. Lidt for accentueret. Smagen er lækker men igen er kattepissen en tand for dominerende. Mundfylden bliver en lille tand for klæg i en ellers udmærket øl.

Cheers!

Bottle. Clear copper with a medium sized diminishing good lacing off white head. Powerfull peach and grapefruit on the nose, a bit floral and almost perfumy as well. Aroma has same notes with some caramel and melon. Taste is medium sweet and bitter. Medium/full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. A bit warming. Long lasting light/medium bitter finish. Good stuff.

Bottle @ CBC 2013. Pours clear golden with a small, staying, frothy white head. Aroma has peach, apples, pineapple, light resin. Medium carbonation, nice dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is sweetish, peach, pineapple, apple, resin. Fine crisp malts. Well balanced.

First of many beers I brought back from a recent trip to NYC. Paired it with a couple of Mexican grocery store tacos. Pours a clear auburn with a fairly ample white head. Smells a bit medicinal, and I don’t mean that pejoratively. Flavor is of a sweet pine with a bitter finish that could be rounded out a little better. Overall a good beer, but I wouldn’t waste energy carrying it across the country when so many great fresh IPA’s are available at home. Bottle - Bowery Whole Foods - New York, NY

Tap. Pretty good overall, but not as good as the description suggested. I was hoping for more citrus and grapefruit taste. It was there, but very mild. This wasn’t too bitter overall and was very drinkable. Pretty good overal.

Excellent! The aroma is great with lots of citrus, stone fruit notes, grapefruit, and a subtle pine note. Taste is citrus, stone fruit, piney and an earthy bitterness that is really well balanced. Finishes crisp and clean.

Hazy grapefruit orange color with a grapefruit aroma. Doesn’t have the citrusy aromas like other IPA’s.
