An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Union Jack is abound with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is dry hopped 3 separate times, each lot giving it more and more of the grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2015 Bottled on 11/16/12 (damn, Iím tempted to give an extra tenth every time a brewery does this). Nose contains massive green hop aroma, fresh and exciting but also a little homebrew(e)y, and though the spiciness manages to peak through the mist, the malts are all but hidden. For some Iíd imagine this is ideal, but itís just not my thing. Clear golden-orange body with a lightly foamy head. Lightly bitter taste (picks up slightly toward the end), not very sweet but no malt backbone either, the hops just have nothing to build on. More yeasty than doughy or malty, clean, light-medium body. This isnít far off from what Iíd imagine an extremely mild hopshot to taste like, and itís hard not to feel a little disappointed. [2013.01.28: 2.9]

Bottled 08/27/15, so about two months old, about the same age as the last bottle. Pours much more distinctly orange, even getting into coppery-brown, with a frothy but short bright white head. This nose is much better, heavy resin with classic grapefruit, oily and juicy but not pushing floral. Also missing some of the dank I remember from much fresher batches. Tastewise, firm bitterness with great resin character, rough without scratch, again very juicy of grapefruit and orange and tangerine with peels, malt is plain and very weak. Touch of spice, some wood. Full and very clean body, touch rubbery-astringent in the long aftertaste. Iíd like another shot at a super-fresh bottle! [2015.10.26: 3.3]

The body on this one is not as complex as on other IPAs I like more. The finish has almost a touch of mint to it. An average GOOD IPA....but nothing terrific.

0.355 l bottle at íFood Loversí (Dortmund), best before June 2017. Sweetish, very fruity, resiny and slightly grassy aroma of orange, grapefruit, tangerine and some pine. A bit sweetish, slightly bitter, very fruity and a bit resiny taste of mango, orange, grapefruit and some pine, followed by a medium long, rather bitter, resiny and dry finish. Medium body, quite effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Very nice!

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy gold color with a thick off-white head. Aroma is mostly pine hops to me. Medium body, taste is good balance between the hops and malt, a little bit of caramel in the mix as well. Dry finish. Great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Old Chicago. Golden color with a lasting white head and plenty of bubbles. Grapefruit, a little citronella, sourdough bread and corn syrup aromas. Light sweetness followed by a heavy citrus bitter finish. Heavier body with a foamy feel.

From Beergium. Kin Teku glass. Watching Los Soprano 2x04. Very fruity (pineapple) with the adequate amount of bitterness to compensate. Improves the more you drink

Enjoyed from a 33cl can. Mango, guava, citrus & pine resin on the nose. Solid bitterness with a biscuity backbone & dry finish. Perfectly balanced IPA.
