COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Union Jack is abound with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is dry hopped 3 separate times, each lot giving it more and more of the grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel.

Bottled on 11/16/12 (damn, I’m tempted to give an extra tenth every time a brewery does this). Nose contains massive green hop aroma, fresh and exciting but also a little homebrew(e)y, and though the spiciness manages to peak through the mist, the malts are all but hidden. For some I’d imagine this is ideal, but it’s just not my thing. Clear golden-orange body with a lightly foamy head. Lightly bitter taste (picks up slightly toward the end), not very sweet but no malt backbone either, the hops just have nothing to build on. More yeasty than doughy or malty, clean, light-medium body. This isn’t far off from what I’d imagine an extremely mild hopshot to taste like, and it’s hard not to feel a little disappointed.

On cask at PreFunk. Cask smooths out the bitterness, rich golden color, lots of sticky lacing. Nice IPA on the lighter side.

IPA pas comme les autres, elle explose au début pour s’addoucir au milieu et finir avec une grosse amertume.

Pours a clear golden colour with a white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, pine, fruit and plenty of hops. Taste is medium sweet leading to a hoppy finish. Excellent.

Surprisingly balanced. Bordering on mild. Not near as bitter as our bartender was at his parents for naming him Tiz. And that's understandable, as another Christmas birthday (they did it as in "Tis' the season") I'd be pissed, too. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rating 500. Bottled 4/10/14. Pours a chill jazed light Orange with a one finger, slightly off white head that laces well. Aroma has big notes of tropical fruits, pine, and resin. Taste is balanced but bitter. Orange citrus, pine, resin, tropical, and a bitter, pine aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly resin texture but still really clean and drinkable. Smooth and easy drinking. Overall a great IPA. Lots of flavour in a very drinkable package. Awesome. Citrus, pine, resin, and tropical fruit.
