On Tap. Pours with a light, rocky, off-white head covering a clear amber body. Great lacing from the tap left on my glass, decent retention aswell. Aroma is of floral and slightly spicey hops, and a light bit of caramel. Taste is a bit watery at first, then a light caramel and biscut malt, followed by a pine hoppy bitterness towards the finish. Watery mouthfeel, light carbonation.

12 fl oz can, 7.5%, canned March 2015. Orange amber, pretty clear, lightly sparkling, big foamy white head leaves thick lacing. Aroma is strong grapefruit and resin up front, toffee and pine. Body is medium to light, spritzy carbonation, a bit foamy. Taste is caramel malts, honeycomb, soured fruits, resin, very piney. Itís seriously hoppy but also really well balanced. Finishes crisp with a restrained bitterness given how hoppy it is. A really good American IPA.

What a great beer! Packs a real punch with big hop flavours, very bitter but still does it in a way that is balanced! Pours with a good off white head, light golden colour and big spice/citrus aroma. Big grapefruit taste with string mouthfeel. Will definitely try this one again!

Maker: Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Paso Robles, California, USA *** Beer: Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA (bottled, 330ml) *** Style: India Pale Ale *** ALC.VOL.: 7.5% *** "An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel." [brewery notes] *** Colour: Bright orange, clear, with a small, fluffy off-white head. *** Nose: Intense grapefruit, herbs, pinewood, medicinal notes (alcohol). *** Texture: Full body, firm, not watery. Medium carbonation. *** Taste: Grapefruit and bitter (very bitter) pine and herbal notes at the start. Alcohol is noticeable, too. Fruity, spicy and bitter. Middle piles on the pine, now resinous. Tongue-numbing. Orange notes as fruit now. The finale is hoppy and expressively bitter, but still a wee sweetish and fruity. Aftertaste grapefruit, resin, pine. Lasting. *** Impressions: Absolutely first-rate American IPA (in both senses of the term) that manages to pound you into the ground with its bitter and spicy notes without sacrificing the fruitiness. This is how itís done!

12fl.oz. can. Pours a clear golden with a large, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, grapefruit and pine. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, grapefruit, grass and pine with a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Delicious.

Can from Coppers, Newcastle. A bright golden coloured beer that pours with a large white foamy head. It has rich pineapple and orange flavours, malty and pine notes followed by more bitter orange and liquorice on the creamy fruity finish. Awesome!
