Foil-capped bomber in a box. 2013 bottle. Aroma is chock full of barrel-aged stout goodness, with oak, toasted coconut, chocolate, coffee, artisan caramel, light smoke, faint raisin all readily apparent. Pours inky black with a one finger tan head that collapses after a minute into a ring. Taste is even better than the aroma let on, with all aroma descriptors in even fuller force. Mouthfeel is velvety, body full. This is beer making at its finest. My favorite beers of all time are the Firestone Walker Anniversary beers, and itís obvious to me now that this is one of the major components in those blends. I havenít had the other beers involved in those blends by themselves in awhile, but (this is just me trying to remember) I would say that this is the backbone of those blends (at least XIV and XVI, which are my favorites so far). I canít wait for XVII in which this beer once again makes a star appearance.
