A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

02/04/15 From 12 oz bottle dated 12/11/14. Very dark with thin head that disappeared quickly. Nice espresso smell and taste but a little thin and watery. Good but didn't get the oatmeal flavor aroma or feel and a bit watery. Lightly hopped without much bitterness. Easy to sip. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a very dark brown with a small diminishing frothy tan head and minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, lactic notes, oats and light hops. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee & chocolate, lactic notes and oats. Medium bodied, almost creamy mouthfeel. Quite good indeed.

Very nice aromoa. Notes of cocoa and coffee. Fairly smooth flavor, with malts, roast malt, hints of coffee and cocoa melding together. Medium body, not too heavy. Easy sipping beer. Opens up a little as it warms, complexity of coffee and cocoa notes unfurls. Fairly clean finish. Very nice drink.

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown to black color with a tan head. Aroma is slight burnt roasted malts, light burnt cocoa. Flavor is mildly sweet, burnt roasted malts and coffee bitterness. Medium body with a lingering burnt bitterness. Solid beer.

Black with brown highlights. Slight tan head. Aroma of roasted Brazil nuts. Quite appealing, actually. Flavor is dry, oily, roasty, nutty. Some bittersweet cocoa. Body is medium, palate is slick and oily. Peanut butter, coffee, roasted bitterness. I'm enjoying the uniqueness. Really doing something different with the stout/porter style. Would be awesome on a crisp fall night.

Poured out of a growler. Started out chilled. Vanilla, chocolate espresso, were all separate. Waited till warm, then everything mended together nicely. Not as smooth as I was hoping. Still pretty good.

On cask at the Public house Las Vegas ...Pours a clear black with a small soapy head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, espresso, chocolate and cocoa. Taste is espresso, mocha, roasted malts, chocolate with a nice slick velvety mouthfeel but a nice dry finish. Exactly what an oatmeal stout should be!

6 pack. This is a nice enough oatmeal stout, but I donít like it nearly as much as the benchmark for the style, Sam Smithís. Merlin isnít as creamy and isnít as rich. I think perhaps the carbonation (light though it seems) interferes, always a potential issue for a stout. Not a long aftertaste either, although whatís there is very good, a nice coffee with cream and sugar taste. The ABV isnít noticeable.
